    Howdy all!

I came across a few pictures and was interested in this style of bows. Has anyone here tried one and if so what are your thoughts on them?

If you currently use one what maker/brand do you recommend since there seem to be quite a bit of them.

As always pics are always welcome to drool over!

Never even heard of that brand. Will have to look it up later and check them out.

Fergus, it's is a style of longbow. ;)

I have a custom HH style longbow. It was very accurate for me but the poundage is too high so I never shot it a lot. I can't say that I like the straight grip style. But that's likely because I'm a wimp.

Cool I keep looking at other style bows everytime I go to any archery shop. Don't know I will ever switch from a compound but keep thinking about it.

I had 3 Hill's....2 Wesley Specials and a Halfbreed. One had a straight grip, one a dished, and another had a locator grip. I preferred the dished grip, then straight

Jim what are your thoughts on them? I'm guessing you like them or else you wouldn't have three?

I had 3 of them....ready to get another. I think with the proper arrow and proper tuning, Hill bows are sweet shooters. I never had issues with handshock like alot of people say are common with them. If you shoot too light of an arrow, it'll definitely thump you hard. They're made to shoot with a low wrist, heeling the grip, so if you prefer a high or loose grip....probably not the best choice for you in a longbow. They prefer a slighter weaker spined shaft because how the shelf is cut. My favorite Hill is the Wesley Special. The 5 bamboo lams make it such a smooth shooting bow. They're not speed demons but they're not dogs either. YOu can probably expect to get about 115fps plus your draw weight with a 10gpp arrow. And Hill bows are what a longbow is supposed to look like
