Just curious how everyone made out this season. I’d like to see your harvests from all over. Thanks all Here’s a few photos of the pure luck I had this season Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Pretty good year. I saw a lot of deer during early archery but always just out of range. Closed the deal on a modest 3.5 y/o public land buck for my first archery kill. During gun season I was covered up on opening morning with the furthest deer being 15 yards and the closest 6 yards, just nothing I was interested in. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
Congrats and good work! What state? How many acres was the public land? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Indiana. The property where I killed my buck is 20k acres or so. Where I gun hunted is federal land and Im not sure how big it is. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
Impressive work. PL can require some knowledge and skill Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
So far, I had a great season. In October, I was blessed with a nice doe. Than late October, early November I harvested a small doe, than a nice Spike. December 1st God in heaven blessed me with my biggest buck, a beautiful 8 point. Here on Long Island, I still have until January 31st to see if more luck comes my way. All antler less tags are left, but its just as fun to me.
You’ll be eating venison for awhile. Great looking buck! God has blessed us both this year. Any special tactics on your success? I.E. calls, scent control, etc? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Well... the plan hasnt worked as i drew it up. Yet!.... but i still have a month. Personally i thinks its a conspiracy by the deer heard. Very disheartining. But... looks like your plan worked out. Congrats! Got 4 hogs but i dont count them cause there everywhere and easy to get.
I had a good year here in Indiana. It was the second year hunting this piece of property. I put a plan together after what I learned last year and it worked out perfectly. I’ve learned more this year about the property, so next year should be better! I ended a 3 year dry spell of not harvesting an antlered deer.
The 8 point I shot it was December 1st. I was using a buck grunt and nothing. I switched to a doe bleat and he came running! I just say right place at the right time!! Keep at it, your day is coming!! Remember, good things come to those who wait.
I had a good season, but only killed one doe, and that was early season over the acorns. Later in the season I did let 3 small legal bucks walk. I also had my first Ohio experience this year, but I didn't kill a buck there either.
Never took the safety off. Had a couple fawns reasonably close. Weather against us. Real warm first part and deer were scattered, moving at night. Then lot of rain and then into the deep freeze. Really only had about 3 weeks or decent hunting weather. Have 10 days to go but don't look like much change. -12° F with -20 wind chill this morning. More of the same most of this week. Starting to think Turkey.
Mine was a success! Got this guy on October 28th, 5:00 pm, following a doe. Didn't fill my bonus tag, but I still had a great year. Had probably 5 shooters on my 20 acre spot, and I think I saw all of them at some time.
I have never had any luck with a buck grunt. Probably because I have no idea what I’m doing lol. I have had some success with the bleat. I totally agree. Next year I may be passing up a lot more in hopes of the big boy coming in Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Very impressive. A monster buck and a coyote?! You definitely know what you’re doing out there. What’s your trick? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Then the hog hunting is good and you’re good at hunting them. Four hogs is a success. I’d be very happy waiting for that big buck to walk into my life and still have a freezer full of pork Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Impressive deer! I’m assuming your plan involved some good scouting Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
This is the price that I may also have to pay next year in order to take that buck of a lifetime Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
