Hi everyone. This is my first post on Bowhunting.com. I hunt in Wauzeka, WI, a small town near Prairie du Chein, WI. Close to the Mississippi river. I am fortunate to have a wife that enjoys venison, and as such we don't generally eat store bought meat. As a result I try to harvest a deer to two in early season, and over the past few years have been fortunate enough to take a doe and buck before the rut began the past two years. This year, however, has not been as fortunate. I have a higher deer count this year, based on the trail camera counting technique. I even had a shot at a doe, and put it right in her shoulder blade, so as you can imagine, didn't recover her. (Quite possibly the worst feeling in hunting.) Since then, I have sat in a couple different stands, on five different morning and evening hunts, and have not seen a deer. I only hunt the weekends because I drive from the other side of Wisconsin to my parents house to hunt. I have heard many people talk about fawn bawls, and even read a few different articles in major hunting publications, that speak very highly of their success at bringing in doe's. At this point that is all I would like to do. So my question, like my title, is how do you affectively use a fawn bawl to call in Doe's? I hunt on a ridge, in the woods, near a bedding area with fields on two sides of me. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
