Letting me buy some land out in Colorado? I found a chunk of land 30 acres smack in the middle of BLM land. I lived close to this area and know they have elk, deer and sheep. It's priced good for the area the only down side is there is no power. Any thoughts?
A buddy of mine bought some land in a communal type hunting ranch. He bought 40 acres and if he doesn't post his land he can hunt on the other non posted land on that 17,000 acre ranch. We hunted it for 2 years with great success and he bought a cabin on an adjoining ranch that is non hunting. We stay at the cabin and drive the 1/2 hour to the hunting spot. He and I have taken 7 elk in 4 years on that hunting ranch. If I were younger I would certainly buy a piece of land out there. My wife and I and he and his wife are flying out for a week vac in a couple of weeks. Going to do some work on the cabin, eat and drink well in addition to sight seeing and some scouting. Buy that land ...you will be glad you did.
Amen to that. I spent 10 hours digging and laying block for my retaining wall, and I would rather do THAT than housework all the time. Tell her you're interested and get her opinion/thoughts on it. Simple.:D
Asking for forgiveness is always easier than getting permission, however, unless you have way too much stuff and are needing to get rid of at least half of it, I wouldn't recommend this route as she gets half that too. If financially able to afford said property, your options would include: 1. Get her talking about land and that they aren't making any more and route the conversation to this piece of property; or 2. Take her on vacation out there and then look at the land together, then bring up you would be interested in purchasing this place. Good luck!
My husband makes the final decisions in our family, but the big issue would be whether or not we could afford it.
We can afford it. The more research I do the better the deal looks. She wants our patio redone but before I do thast I have to paint the house . I want to put the Patio on the back burner until next year but if I get my way I might need have to do it thid year.
Generally speaking, where is the property? "Too good of a deal"....sometimes that's scary. Are there any other issues besides the power?
Pike National Forest. I would fly out there and look at it first.I also know the guy selling it,I haven't talked to him directly yet but I think he will shoot me straight on it.
I know what I would do, but then again, my wife would be ok with it. I would however let her know what I was considering. In the end, good luck with what ever you decide and I hope that it works for you. DISCLOSURE : I HAVE A RARE AN REMARKABLE WIFE AND THAT MAKES MY POINT MEANINGLESS.
Does this property get you some access to BLM grounds that you wouldn't otherwise be able to access as easy? Owning a piece of ground can be very rewarding...and now you'd have an excuse to bust off to CO any chance you can..."gotta check on my property"
