I have a couple of unappealing public land options to hunt, and one small parcel of private land. I'm hoping some of you can help with a strategy to attack the private parcel.

The private land owned outright is only 5 acres, but it is a major thoroughfare for deer movement...situated between an upland ridge of bedding areas and farmland two hundred yards away and downhill. The neighboring land is not posted, and is hundreds of contiguous acres, but it is in sight of numerous backyards, and there's no permission to hunt it. It's not densely suburban, but it is a row of houses, all with @ 5 acre lots. That's what passes for Country around here. I'm kinda limited to staying on the 5 acres I have written permission to hunt (If necessary, I'll get permission from the nighbors to recover an animal, but I don't have permission to hunt their land.)

Two houses standing a hundred and fifty yards apart have pinched the deer's travel route creating an unnatural funnel. The sign is intense and everywhere. I have one game camera that has gotten numerous shots of deer, but they're all between midnight and four AM.

So this situation is: beautiful sign, but the human activity has apparently trained the local deer population (nocturnal to begin with) to hold off moving in the vicinity until all normal human activity apprears to have ceased. I'm guessing they're conditioned to get out and about late at night.

Is there any way to induce movement in the area during shooting hours? 1/2 hour before dawn to 1/2 hour after dusk.

I know there'll be slightly increased chances come November, but I'm concerned with Now, early season. If I had freedom of movement, I'd set up close to the beds in the afternoons...but I'm much more confined than they are. I'm closer to the food sources, and any treestand location has great visibility overlooking deer Route 1. If only they weren't using it only in absolute darness.

Any way to make this productive? Or simply give up on it? :(

    Thanks for any clue.
