Rahm has basically reduced resources to fight gangs in Chicago, currently the answer is to attack the 2nd Amendment rights of all law abiding citizens. We know that Gang's do not follow laws and gun bans will only cause them to drive 15 minutes to Indiana to get their weapons. Today at the gym my training partner asked why I felt I need an AR-15, even though he is a Republican no gun owner.

My answer was simple, I should be allowed to defend my family with whatever means criminals are using, I shouldn't have to take on a Gang Banger in my own home with a 6 shot revolver.

Here is my thought, be ready as it is going to be radical and controversial. Our President has basically opened the door to fight home grown terrorist organizations. Basically he has authority to eliminate a hostile terrorist threat. Is it time to list all known gangs and criminal organizations as Terrorist? How about if the CIA starts taking out terrorists who kill innocent civilians? How about hunting them down under the act of terrorism?

Gun Laws do not work in Chicago, mainly because criminals are law breakers. Maybe it is time to wage war on them in the name of terrorism and have them eliminated to make the streets safer.

    Thoughts???

I'd vote for that. Grew up just outside of philly and its not much better there. So many times I see our country work their butt off to find the people who may do us hard...to people who would like to do us harm. And that's great, helps keep us safe. But I never understood why they haven't put even half that effort into the ones who ARE doin us hard. We have so many issues on our own soil that go forgotten because catching/killing a man with a terrorist label makes for better news.

I would agree, there was something like 500 (?) homicides in Chicago alone I think I read the other day. To say that taking guns away are goin to stop all that is not really solving what is a obvious problem in one city of a much bigger state. To my knowledge they already have many of the bans they're wanting to give the rest of us, so how does that solve the problem. Over the years how many budget cuts have been made to law enforcement or legal systems? I don't get how the people running this state can look at what's goin on up there and find the only problem being firearms. I compare it to anywhere else around the world that that many Americans lose there lives, there's a huge uproar to send military and force out the people doin that not to go over and collect all guns, not saying send in military on US soil but obviously there's a bigger problem taking place in Chicago.

I would agree that violent criminal street gangs are domestic terrorists. I would go so far as declaring martial law in some particular parts of cities. Basically make life a living heck for all those tough guy criminal street gang members who terrorize everyone on a daily basis. I cannot tell you how many times I got into fights in my early teenage years with gang members. They tried to bully me on many occasions and I've had the pleasure of fighting many a crip, blood, and other criminal street gang members, sometimes more than one at a time.

OR at the very least allow civilians to defend themselves with guns.

Chicago's super strict restrictions on guns haven't stopped the violence there at all. The calls for more gun control by those in power have nothing to do with reducing crime and everything to do with Control.

When I listened to the audio of the committee last night, those supporting gun bans and magazine restrictions acknowledged that these new laws would not curb crime but would make criminals out of currently law-abiding folks and most importantly.... they said it was a 'first step'.

The good vs. evil battle has been going on since the dawn of time, no matter how many laws are passed to stop criminals there is still going to be crime. The more laws that are on the books infringe on non criminals more then criminals. To declare gangs terrorists, I would believe would give the government more control over the law abiding citizens then would help in the gang trafficking. The Rico act I believe was supposed to be the ultimate weapon to legally fight the gangs why wouldn't that be the avenue to pursue the gangs instead of bringing in new legislation claiming terrorism?

Christine, the information stated should be obtained in a FOIA request. If they said it wouldn't curb violence but would make criminals out of law abiding folks then we have a huge anti-second amendment statement that can be sent to the masses.

Come on you guys! You know that when Illinois outlaws guns crime will become non-exsistant. Look what outlawing cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin did. Once it was outlawed, people all throughout Illinois quit using and abusing those drugs. I know this is all true because I read it on the internet, and you can't lie on the internet.
