How to Choose the Best SD Card for Trail Cameras & Other Devices | Your Life ... www.yourlifevalues.com › how-to-choos... Good artical on trail cameras. I have some older converts tried putting some 32gb and they don't work. Guess you need 16 and down. Just started doing some research on SD cards a lot to know how fast they right and what your camera is rated for. Never knew that. .This might explain maybe why I should be using a different class to get the trigger times right. Know I am on a mission .
I always buy sandisk ultra or extreme, class 10, 45 to 80 mbs speed. I and have used them in many different cams with 0 issues. Moultrie stealth, reconyx, bushnell, primos, covert and browning. I never ever format my cards in my cams either. 0 issues. Sent from my SM-T537V using Tapatalk
I use all Scandisk cards, usually 16 gb capacity or less. Where does it state any speed rating on the cards ? ? Never heard of speed ratings on an sd card.
I can't speak for all cards but all mine have it printed on the card label. It will be 45MB /s on it. That's the transfer speed of 45. I believe it is megabits per second. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong. You will also see a big u with a 1 inside it along with the class number being 10 with a circle around it. Sent from my SM-T537V using Tapatalk
I have not seen the Extreme cards. Not all my cams would accept the 32 gb cards. The standard Scandisk cars I use have the C with a 2 inside. No speed designation. Thanks for the education. Will do some looking at a couple larger stores come Monday when we get to the City.
I had the smaller ones but over the years I upgraded. All of my cams are set for hd videos so I need the larger cards. The only ones I have that take pictures are my Spartan Gocams. That will change soon also since the new version Gocam can send me photos or videos to my phone. Sent from my SM-T537V using Tapatalk
See the circle with the 10 in it that bowhtr1 posted? That 10 is the class. Most SD cards are either class 4 or 10. If you want optimal performance you want to get a class 10 card with the fastest transfer speeds. Lots of people complain that there cameras are slow. So issues, not all, are related to the cheap SD card that they put in their camera. You can get Class 10 cards on E-Bay or amazon for a decent price. Think of it this way. If you have a water pump and its rated to 10 gallons a minute but your pipe will only allow you to push 5 gallons per minute you will never get optimal performance. Same thing with a SD Card. If you have a 30 sec trigger but it takes 45 secs to write the imagine to the card you will never get that 30 sec trigger.
Lot of different cards out there I guess. I understand the speed your talking about, just never thought about the card not handling the camera speed. The 5 cards I have here now, one 32gb has 4 in the C, one 8gb has 4, one 2gb has 2, one 8gb has a 10 and is labeled high speed. This probably why I am only getting one image of a deer passing across the camera view, occasionally a head or butt with a full view. Have a couple weeks to check this out better till bow season opens again.
Some camera's are just slow. The older models with the cards you mention on pictures should work ok. The newer ones have a need for speed. Especially if you have them in burst mode. Some of the newer Browning and Bushnell imo are too fast in burst. But I set mine to 15 sec videos with a 30 sec or 1 minute trip time. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
My cameras are less than 2 years old, 3 are Wildgame and one is a Browning. All near a blind or stand. Pictures are all I need as I am wanting to know if I have the stands in the right place. One has one pic of a buck in the last month. Orange Army went through this morning so that could change. Saw one fool take a shot at a nice buck that came out behind him 200 yds. Buck stopped about 400 yds away and he took a shot - with a shot gun ? ? ?
