I'm sure its been covered before but wondering how Lone Wolf Hang-On guys get everything out to there stands? I'm feeling I need to get better with my Alpha II and Leverage sticks if I want to hunt bigger bucks but haven't mastered the combinations to carry the stand, sticks, backpack and bow quietly to my tree. I like to have one hand free to cut branches get over fences also but not sure thats possible. So far I hang my backpack over the LW and put the LW on my back and carry the sticks in one hand and my bow in the other. Is there a better way?
I just use a ratchet strap and ratchet my steps to the back on my stand. Then I'll use my backpacks 4 straps to actually strap the stand to my back. Not the lightest of options, but it'll due till I can buy some land and leave some stands up.
the sticks are made to attach to the back of your stand so that would free that up. I attach my pack to the stand and sticks and use a Bow carry strap to strap around my shoulder, that frees up one hand. I don't do this often, I hunt private land so leaving stands in hot areas is ok, so im reduced to only a pack and Bow.
I don't have a Lone Wolf but isn't that what their stick quiver is for? I think it carries the sticks while attached to the stand. Blessings.........Pastorjim
I have the stand on my back, with sticks and my pack strapped to it. Bow in hand or on my should via a sling. This leaves one hand free. It's back-breaking though. I need to hire a sherpa. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Probably, but I've never looked into them or seen them before. I've started ratcheting them down from day 1 and never looked back. Might have to check that out though.
I was warned they were junk. Did a little research and most of the reviews confirmed the same. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I guess the other benefit of using a ratchet is the ability to use the same ratchet to add security to my stand if need be, or else my camera arm. Dual purpose.
I've even put my backpack on my chest and then the stand and sticks on my back and that works but it's bulky. I'm also hunting private land and have many stands up but trying to get where I can hunt the wind better and get into multiple areas.
Before started filming, I was running just a Badlands Monster pack and would then throw my stand with sticks nested on my back over the top of the fanny pack. It worked well and I could fit enough stuff in the pack for full day sits. Now that I'm filming, I'm running the Badlands Camera Day Pack. The stand doesn't fit over the pack anymore, so instead I use a single strap on the side of the stand and carry it across my shoulder like a messenger bag. It's not as comfortable for really long hikes, but it does work.
Been there done that! It's not so bad when the temps are cooler, but MAN does it get hot when you're 2 miles back in a cattail swamp lol
I've tried the side strap carry as well. Not bad for short trips. Smaller fanny pack my be a good options. Really surprised LW has not addressed this or gotten with a backpack company to come up with a solution.
I haven't seen where any company has addressed this. Which is why I think you're starting to see a lot more deep woods wilderness guys switching over to climbing harnesses and equipment and sitting in tree saddles again. I know I've looked at climbing gear a lot harder in recent years.
Yes, I'll do that with the climber sometimes as well. The funny thing is trying the snap the backpack behind yourself like a bra. LOL
I am using a turkey vest this deer season instead of a back pack, seems like it will do the job and it is something less to carry. There is a pic of how I carry my sticks. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
