Not Fort Lee. Langley afb. Had a friend there who lived in W Va. and we hunted on his place a lot. Not just deer, but small game as well.

Northern or southern WV? Northern WV tends to be a bit more farmland and "southern" type, while southern WV tends to be a different story.

I don't think there's anything at all wearing camo around. Heck, I wear a camo jacket and camo hat year round. It represents what I like to do.

Nothing wrong with wearing Hollister. It's the actions and the message people send saying "I'm a ****** bag", like these guys in particular were doing. And college kids are more annoying than setting in a daycare, most of them anyway.

I don't believe hunting will get more popular. It seems with everything that involves being outside and doing stuff, younger folks would now rather do it on a video game since it requires less movement. Maybe in other states and areas archery and hunting is popular among the younger generation, but it seems like everywhere I go it's the same old same old.

I know when I went to college, nobody there wanted to hunt, hike, camp, fish, or anything productive. They wanted to play video games constantly during the day and drink alcohol and hit on girls at night.

    I hope you are right.

It really depends on what part of the state you're in. Where I live hunting is something that just about everyone does.... but not a Lot of bowhunters. The reason being.... the season is just too damn short for an area that has so few deer. The regular bow season starts this year on Oct 1 and ends on the 21st. BUT.... the last wek of that they turn loose the smoke pole hunters. So really, bow season is only 14 days in an area with few deer compared to other places. You can hunt 4 days earlier if you have a tag left from last year. Not recruiting a lot of new bowhunters in a poverty stricken area to bow hunt 14 days. They allowed crossguns this year during firearms season. Fat chance of seeing many crossgunners during rifle season where there are literally no doe tags because of low populations. Now if you travel to the Southern part of the state... there are more deer, longer season and there are more bowhunters. BUT.... there are a lot more NON hunters in the Southern Tier. Many areas heavy HEAVY in tree huggers etc.

In my area we don't have that many bow hunters that I know of. All my friends hunt in some form weather it be doves or coyotes as the two most popular. Deer hunting isn't huge as people don't know where to find them and don't put in the time. Lots of gun hunters mainly for antelope, during the winter lots of guys carry rifles because you never know when you will see a coyote and its not uncommon to see people in camo I think the only place I haven't seen it worn yet is during church.

Hunting is very popular in my age group (22ish)and older, but I have noticed that the area youth don't have the same interest in the outdoors as my friends and I did at that age. I spent my childhood outside, and I'm sure that there are kids out there that enjoy hunting and being outside, but the population of teenage dudes that wear skinny jeans, lime green shoes, and knit hats in 80 degree weather has skyrocketed.

I go to Cloverleaf Highschool in NE OH. Both my older bros graduated from there and just to stay, we are an example of alf the kids that go to that school. We started bring your tractor to school day. Our rival highschool dresses up in camo to mimmick us at the football games. We get passes from the principal to mss days during deer and turkey season.

I know alot of people that hunt, fish and enjoy the outdoors and are just like me. There are those kids that say "dumb rednecks, go kill something", they usually go home, do drugs and sit on their couch playing there 360... everday. These kids have no idea what "outside" means. But most kids at my school are hunters or fishers and want to go hunting or fishing with someone like me.

Pretty popular in our area in the sense that there are plenty of weekend warriors. We're in a relatively rural area, and I think the outdoor lifestyle popularity reflects that. Ironically enough, we don't have a ton of 3D events in the immediate area during the offseason.

In this family I archery hunt.My 24 yr old Son archery hunts, and in the future I hope to influence my 2 Grand Sons to hunt also. They are only 3 and 1.The one yr old loves to be picked up and touch the deer mounts.
In Pennsylvania we sell the most hunting licenses in the lower forty-eight.
There are over 100,000 archery state wide and growing since they made cross bows legal throughout the archery season(s)
Rifle hunters thinking their archery hunting.......I think x-bow hunters should be put in a subcategory, not tossed with us real archers.

Great to hear hunting is popular at your school/area. I know those type of kids you're talking about. They are all up and down this area. Drugs, video games and general laziness is pretty much the future, unfortunately.

Yeah I'm 22, too. I know exactly what you mean when you say growing up was spent outside. And I know exactly what you mean with the skinny jeans and knit hats with their anorexic looking bodies. I mean if the new norm. if feminine and lazy is the new normal, I'm proud to be an outcast.

There have always been lazy kids that wanted nothing to do with the outdoors. This is nothing new.

They are kids. It is a fad. Kids follow fads. Most grow out of it. Judging our future by kids is absurd. Every generation in the history of mankind has thought the generation after is full of lazy, worthless people with no future.

I absolutely hate these type of discussions.

It's becoming more popular. That's the point.

Judging the future of the world by the kids, which ARE the future, is nowhere near absurd.

Um, then don't make posts in them?

I'm from southern wv (Beckley) and must say hunting is hugely popular. Bow hunting is also popular. Any time of day you can go anywhere and see people in camo or multiple trucks with bow hunting stickers or logos plastered all over them.

I'm 28, my hobbies outside of hunting? Computers, video games, and all that other stuff you talk about being the downfall of America.

That is where I am from too. I'm not sure what part you're from, but I haven't seen many people at all wearing camo and bow hunting. Most people I talk to say they know people that do it, but do not do it themselves. I've been to both colleges here in Beckley. You might see a couple of trucks with archery stickers on it, but my post is concerning the younger generation, once again.

This is exactly what I'm doing about. Taking one message and trying to make a completely different argument out of it. I am talking about people who do NOT hunt or do anything outdoors and choose to sit in the house playing video games and stuff. If you don't think laziness is at an all-time high during the same time technology boosts, then you do need to pay more attention to your surroundings. I know several people your age that hunt. I am talking about younger folks.

It is nauseatingly popular in my home area. I guess I'm selfish because I wish half the jack legs would give up on it. Finding hunting ground is next to impossible.

Ya, I agree. They should never be put into the same category as us real archers shooting carbon arrows out of compound bows using mechanical releases.

You can pick any generation, and you will find adults complaining about kids/teenagers. This will stand the test of time.
