How old do you think this deer is? I'm guessing about 4.5 to 5.

sorry about that, the pic hasn't been approved yet. I'm new to using the forum, I didn't know the pics had to be approved first.

It says: Picture Waiting Moderator Approval.

When you attach pics do you have to put them in your album first?

    I don't have a website or photobucket.

I can email the pic if you would care to look at it.

Maybe a response or solution to the "pictures" that were being posted earlier?

Hopefully they will approve it. The deer weighed 203lbs. Was killed in Kentucky. I took it to the taxidermist and he said the deer was so old that his horns started getting smaller. I have never heard of this before. He said after deer get so old and their antlers reach their full potential that they start getting smaller each year after that. I don't know if this is true, I don't think it is. What do you think?

not to hijack the thread or anything, but if someone can answer this question as well. What is the average life expectancy of a healthy deer?

    Jay,
I've heard 11-12yrs is their expectancy if not killed by hunters, cars, predators, etc.....

Tough call on that deer, body is MASSIVE, but the face and rack don't correlate with what that body looks like, I think teeth would be a much better way than guestimating off of the appearance of its body and rack are....

I'd think just with the shear mass of the body, that deer has to be at LEAST 4.5yrs. old though.

    thanks ohbowhntr.

With that being said, this guy must be around at least 8 than? I'm absolutely horrible at scoring or aging deer.

his horns are all twisted up and mangled. Looked like he was fighting alot, had a point broke off and lots of scars on his body. I know he's been around for a while because I've some people that live close said they had been seeing him for a long time. They said he was just plain WILD. The Taxidermist said he was really old, like above 6 but I don't know for sure.
