Seriously, I have seen old bucks with small hooves, and youngish deer with big feet. A lot of outdoor writers have made a living at writing about pure b.s.
I was expecting to see a blurred picture with the buck standing looking towards us so you cant see much standing in CRP...but this is WAY better
That track was made by a buck named John Smith. He is 17 years old, born into an elite family of whitetails. His brother sam was hit by a car on stearns road 3 years ago. If you look at the bottom left portion of the track, you can tell that he was having a rough day, based on the angle. The upper part of the impression tells me that he often feeds on local corn and soybeans. That buck is an 13 point, who has had a broken right G2 since age 5. He typically sheds his velvet late, around September 29th.
You know what they say. The bigger the track the bigger the rack. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
You forgot to mention that John's diet consists mostly of peanut butter, jelly sandwiches and granola bars. Considering the depth of his track I'd say he's been laying off of the mountain dew for awhile.
It's not a fawn and probably not a 250lb. 5.5 yr old. Put it this way, my 15 yr old cousin wears a size 15 shoe. I'm 35 and I wear a size 11. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I just emailed this thread over to one of my high school teachers that said "there is no such thing as a stupid question". He just replied "I stand corrected"
Don't let them get to ya meetseeker, if they can't tell it just means that they aren't good enough woodsmen
