How often should I be replacing my bow string. I have an older Bowtech Tribute 2006-2007. And should I have it tuned at the local pro shop when I do?

Is this the original string?? If so I think your probably due.

I usually replace mine every year, but I shoot a lot, roughly 60 arrows a day average for the year.

Really just depends on how much you shoot and how diligent you are on string care. The guy at the pro shop I go to said that the average shooter probably can go 2 years on 1 string if they take care of it. for guys that shoot everyday for months on end probably need a string at least once a year. Also, look at warranty. I know there are a few warranties out there that state in order to keep your warranty you have to get your string replaced every year. My guess would be though if you go to a good shop and they know you keep the string in good shape and don't need one every year they would fib for you and get the warranty work done anyway.

I would probably get them to get it in the ballpark then do the fine tuning yourself. They should at least be able to get the arrows shooting straight and pretty well get your first pin close. But to really fine tune it you need to be the one shooting it. And yeah if thats the original your probably due a new string.

With some waxing a few times per season and simply hunting with a bow, I'd be completely comfortable with 5 or 6 seasons. Use common sense. You string will tell you when it's ready. If you don't take care of it and shoot semi regularly, I can see where a stock string would wear out in a year though.

I hunt hard and shoot often and I haven't worn out a Vaportrail set in less than 2 years. I wax maybe once a season and shoot 3D and in my basement though out the year.

If it shows sign of wear you might want to replace it. If you have any bow savy you could replace it yourself. My first string was replaced by a prostaff shooter. If you have one in your area give them a call. Most are more than happy to help.

Just ordered a set of vapor trails. Glad to hear that they perform well. In the past I have used mainly winners choice. This time I actually shot the stock string for a year. Not a fan of the stock Mathews string. Replacing it after a derailment during a let down. Thumb triggers are touchy and when you let off at the wrong angle bad things happen. Bow looks fine, but I don't trust the current string that had the extra shock.

I have mine custom made by Tombstone Strings that are made locally. My last one lasted 7 months before the serving stared to slightly separate at the cams. I shoot a whole lot. In normal conditions I shoot a bow about 300-500 shots a week. Thats quite a few shots on a string.

A good rule as mentioned is every 2 years unless it is showing wear. I wax mine every 2 sessions ( 200 shots or less) Then I use a hair dryer set on low to melt the wax and I rub it in with my fingers while it is liquefied.

I shoot about 50-75 arrows a week and I change about every eighteen months. My current set up has Proline strings that are still in great shape after almost a year. Just keep your strings cleaned and waxed.

The guy I bought my bow from told me that Octane guarantees their strings for 2 years. Dont know if any other companys do that or not.
