Evidently people assume how often you check your cameras directly effects your chances at killing a buck.
People think all kinds of stuff about what bucks do. I have found that the does are not pressured and secure are the barometer for the bucks, if the does are not on alert the bucks will approach.
Bucks don't necessarily spend summer months in the same areas that they spend the winter months. I only have about 3-4 different velvet bucks every summer. But come winter, I'll have 8-9 that frequent all of my cameras. Also, ill have a buck or two that will be at my mineral sites every day during the summer, but I'll never get a picture of them with hard antlers.
4 years and not 1 velvet buck pic? Damn man... Do you have any summertime food sources on your property (beans, corn edges, closer, etc?)
I give them a minimum of 5 days, maximum of 2 weeks. I have to go based on time off work which is very little. Deer are used to human activity on my family farm...i only check them while hunting once the season rolls around.
I could see that maybe being the case during early season when they're on a feeding pattern, but during the rut I don't think that would be an issue because bucks come and go so frequently. jmo
The only food sources are native grasses and white oak acorns no food plots as of right now just mineral sights!!! I start putting corn out around August but still haven't had any velvet pics Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
Usually 2-3 weeks for me depending on my schedule. I am by my camera locations quite often with tractors so it's an easy enterance/exit strategy.
I just put a new trail camera out over my mineral site I'm gonna let it soak until the 1st of July then I'll probably do just that and take some corn back in when I pull that card then let it soaking for another month til august 1st. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
