I have been checkiing them every weekend, but now that its getting closer to go time, I am letting them sit for at least 2 weeks, if not longer.

This time of year once a month. Once it gets to be rut time most of them get checked about every week.

During the offseason I try to wait 3-4 weeks even though it tears me up not to check it once a week. Just not worth it though if u risk bumping your deer. During the season though if I have an easily accessible area then I will check them every 3-4 days b/c a lot of times, especially rut time, you may only have 1 or 2 days for a certain buck to be in your area. I have a friend of mine that killed a nice 8 last year that scored bout 135. The only reason He killed that buck was b/c of a trail camera pic. He went on his lunch break and pulled the card and saw the buck was there early that morning. It went to the stand that evening and killed him about 30 min after He climbed up. He runs camera there all year round for the past several years and He has never seen that buck. He hunts there all the time. All He could figure is He has just cruised into the area looking for hot does...If He would have waited another day or two He may never had seen that buck again...

Whenever it is convenient and a good time to check. Mid day or late at night.

I prefer in the middle of a thunderstorm, but those are rare this time of year!

I try to hold off as much as I can but so far this year it's been about every two weeks. Haven't been seeing the same deer twice though... Makes me think they all just pass through and there are no residents.. hopefully that changes.

3 days - 3 weeks. Depends on the time of season and how rainy it is.

    Land 'o' little bucks!
This year Im trying something "new".

    No trail cams.

Im still going once a month to glass the area from afar and seeing more deer than I ever did on cam. More bucks as well.

Im thinking that even checking the cam using scent control I was leaving to much of me behind letting them in on my secret.

Still drives me nuts to not have the pictures though so I am thinking of getting one that sends pics to my phone or email.

Every 2-3 weeks. I say checking cams every 2-3 weeks is less pressure than hunting a stand or particular area 2-3 times a week. Plus I will no longer check cams after Sept 1st.

    Blessings......Pastorjim

I had waited 3 months, then checked my cam, only to find out it died a month ago. Died as in kaput, done, finished. However, a freak was growing and I want to see what he's turning into. I put a new cam out this past weekend and really want to check it right away, but will force myself to wait. I will check it in about 3 weeks though, because if the camera craps out, I can take it back within the 30 day warranty period at the store and will buy a better one. Would really like to get one that will run off solar powered battery pack and also send pics to e-mail, but don't want to drop that kind of money right now.

I check mine once a week because this time of year they are all easy to access either by river or road. Im lucky enough to have enough different properties im allowed to hunt that i acutally get to check cameras three or four times a week. I do have two different cameras i havent been able to get at for a month now and am excited to get out and check then whenever we get a thunderstorm.
