Just curious how often you guys check your trail cams, swap cards on them, move the cam to a different location, etc.
summer time I will go about every two weeks. Rut time of year I will check them once a week if Im going to be out there the next weekend. or lets say im gong for the weekend Ill check them on friday when i get there move them and check on sunday before I leave. If its close to a hot bedding area I will let it sit for a week or up to three
Right now I pull the card whenever I walk by to hunt which is every couple days and will move when I find a new hot scrape
Since we don't have a ton of acres (talking 10 us personally and a surrounding 20 we have permission on) we don't move them much during the hunting season. We move them during summer bout every 3 weeks, right before season move and then prior to rut move is typical for us.
^^ This. I'll leave mine out anywhere from a month to a day. It's shorter this time of year. Depends on many factors (time of year, acess, pressure, location, etc...) At this point of the season/rut, information is time sensitive, patterns are shifting, and bucks will start throwing caution to the wind.
I run mine almost year round. I pull them at the end of march, clean them up and put them back out in the middle of April. I put them on things they want or need..... water hole, mineral site, food plot, etc. You can learn a lot from the cameras.
some i dont move at all i just change out sd cards, others i move all the time as i hunt different stand on a day to day bases trying to narrow down areas that dont have much sign because of the dry year we are having here in mo. most are on funnels now with a few on scrapes and large and random rubs.
Summer months - we move/re-battery/check cards 1x per month. During hunting season - weekly or when convenient. We have a lot of cameras (16), and usually at least 8 of those are in the woods at any given time. It gets to be a pain in the ass sometimes, so it's not out of the ordinary for us to temporarily abandon a camera and swing back in for it later if it's in an inconvenient location or just not producing anything noteworthy.
leave mine up most of the year but in the off season i try to bait mine with corn or something so i can see which bucks made it through the season easier rather than just hoping to catch him on his trail. During the season though i move them any time i think a place is getting hot and let it sit for a week then check it. but my trail cams on my regular stands i check everytime i go in.
