I bust my tail every day at work trying my hardest to get done eArly enough to run home shower dress gear up and go. I end up staying home most days because by the time I get to the stand there is only 1 hr 30 mins or so left to hunt. So I ask, is an hr and half worth it? Sure I could save myself 15 mins and go without showering but my mind tells me that makes it less worth it to go out stinky. Would any of u RUSH your whole day, day after day to hopefully get an hr n half to two hrs on stand...at my least productive stand that is. (Closest to home)

I'd say an hour and a half is better than no time at all, but there is always the possibility of burning out a spot.

It would depend on several factors. Time of year, type of stand, and how much I want to go hunting.

I've got into a stand late before....like 1.5 hrs before night fall, hauled my bow up, looked up and had 3 doe walking in front of me at 20 yards.

But I would only do it if my stress level is lower going hunting than it would be if I stayed home. What's the point in hunting if it stresses me out?

That's a very good point bro. It is stressing me out trying so hard to find the time. I just always feel like I'm missing out on a giant or fat doe. Always feel like I'm cheating myself by staying home. I just want every hunt to be worth the time n effort.

If I can get in without bumping anything you betcha. Only reason to go in early is to limit bumping something.

It is being able to at least have the opportunity. Quit whining.. many people would kill just to sit a stand for ten minutes with a bow.

Brother, we have it good and that is exactly why it is worth the effort. It is the experience, not the size of the rack.

Clarity: We all are in a similar boat working to play. Keep in mind you are not entitled.

I have a stand that is no more then 50 yards from the road. I park, drop down in the creek up the other side and hop up in my stand that's on the back side of the timber. 90 minutes would be plenty of time for that spot. That and I wouldn't be to worried about burning it out as I don't disturb much getting in there.

I guess if it was me if probably try to an & do it a couple times a week. That way your still getting out & also not burning the spot out. IMHO.

The land I hunt is 4 hours from my house. I get up there 3-5 long weekends per season and that's all I hunt. That includes post-rut hunts in December and January. If I could get out 1-2 nights per week for 1.5 hours I'd be in hog heaven (especially this time of year). You're lucky in my book. Good luck sticking a big fat doe tonight. Go get her!

I would hunt the hour and half if that's all you have...IF you can get in with bumping deer and burning the spot out. Yes the 15 min shower delay probably is worth the time.

This is a very interesting topic and one I think a lot of us face.
All day long I've been thinking about what to do tomorrow. Typically I don't have time to rush home and hunt since I work an hour away, but if I could get home or to my other spot with an hour and a half would it be worth it.

I think if you can get in quickly and quietly without causing too much fuss, it's worth a shot.
But like for me, one spot I have to pack my stand in every time, it really isn't worth it.

I hunted after class tuesday, got out at 3:10, drove home, changed, drove 25min to my spot and was situated in my stand by 4:15, end of shooting light was at 5:09. I saw 13 deer 2 of which were good bucks chasing, had two deer come into 20yds just didnt take the shot. I was pushing it on time but it was worth the lack of focus all day and the rushing to get in the stand. Better than no time at all!!!

Definitely worth it. It might not be ideal, but it beats not hunting.

No doubt, go hunting man. Consider yourself lucky to be in that situation. Lets see, you have the chance to spend 6 1/2 hours during the work week in a tree doing something you love to do and your wondering if its worth the time. Go hunting!
