So we all like to hunt, that's a given, but how much effort to do you put into tuning your bow and form? Do you look for pie plate or pinpoint accuracy?
Having the bow tuned is very important. I don't care about pinpoint accuracy. What I do care about is consistency. I want to be able to hit a softball sized target EVERY time I shoot at it at hunting distances.
I'm pretty new to archery, just 2 seasons under my belt now at 44 yrs old. I traded up this year for a new bow that's more set up to shoot the gamut: hunting, 3D, indoor and outdoor target. I'm hooked on shooting my bow now. Definitely not satisfied with "pie plate"accuracy. I want X's and12 rings. Been working on upgrading all my accessories to follow suit also; hha single pin slider, better stabilizer setup, better tolerance arrows, and going to try a t handle thumb release.
If I'm shooting a pie plate sized target, I want to be hitting the center of it. But like Ruck said, I'm mainly concentrating on form right now. Oddly, when your form is right, your arrows tend to be perfect. There are a few old cats at my club who've taught me a ton in less than 5 minutes time.
I am not a "good 'nuff" kind of guy. I always want to be the best I can and love shooting 3d and 5 spot Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I shoot almost everyday. I try not to shoot the same thing everyday though. Some days i'll shoot dots at measured distance just working on form, some days I'll shoot blank cardboard at different ranges working on picking out a spot. I've even got an old basketball that I shoot with judo points. Always trying to improve and get better. Pie plate groups wont get it for me.
I shoot at the smallest target I can pin to my backstop. Forty is my practice range. I shoot 20 and 30 just to make sure I don't flub chip shots. My groups at forty are about 4 inches. When August hits I will have it down to an inch.
I shot at a Sportsmans Expo today and was sixth in the qualifier when I had to go. They take 32 in the shootout. I am not sure if I will make the cut after qualification rounds are complete but it was pretty cool. Got a free humphries shirt but it has Hoyt all over it...ah well. Unfortunately I have a job to do and will be working even if I did qualify but that's just the way it goes. I think I like target shooting.
I try to shoot at least 4 days a week and my groups from 20yards out to 40 yards average about 3". I like to take wawa coffee cup lids and put them on my targets. They work pretty well.
I shoot five spot in my basement and I am in a small animal target league and on Friday nights we shoot archery darts at a local archery shop/range for fun and $. I have a bow press and paper tuner and do shoot a well tuned Elite Pure. I use my hunting set-up for indoors except I switch to a TruBall hinge release and Easton X7 2613's for bigger diameter line cutting
Consistacy is what I look for. I love target shooting and where I live is very, very populated( Nassau County in Long Island). We have a county park with a 100 yard archery range open dawn till dusk. Free all day. And now like I said in an earlier post my 3 teenage daughters are now shooting so I will be going alot this off season. Gotta stay sharp!

I like to have pin point accuracy. I used to shoot like 60 arrows a day at the minimum so I was pretty good at one point.
The coyote pic is at my house. The pic of my son shooting was at a tournament. But I do have a few Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
