I just had a lady call me about a trailer I have for sale. She asks me if my advertised price is my "best" price. I tell her the figure I'd be willing to settle on. Then she asks me "How much for cash".

Well....what the hell did she think the payment terms were on the previous figure?

    I should've traded it in.

When I sold my F-250 I had a price or best offer. No one would offer, they wanted to know my rock bottom price. I would say it's on the signed, what's your best offer. No one would make an offer, I ended up taking it to the good will and getting the tax credit.

    Try Ebay Jeff

Can't sell it unless you get in the batters box.

When I get this question at work, I first confirm they are in a position to buy if we agree on a price. If so, I let them know I'm willing to be flexible on price, but let's get a chance to check the item out first to make sure it's what they are looking for, and setup a time to do it face to face. It's a LOT easier to take control of the situation in a face to face discussion than an over the phone conversation that starts with price.

If they aren't willing to come face to face to see the thing your selling, when they know the starting price and that you are also willing to be flexible............they weren't going to buy anyhow.

    Seriously.....what was she thinking?

I think her husband must've asked her to call......and she was reading the script.

    Just proves they're both dumb-asses.

I ask for chas discounts, but only through businesses. Most give at least 5%, that's what they'd be giving to the CC companies anyways....

Private parties? Well, I just assume it's cash.

You're right, people are dumb. Thats why you inflate the asking price so that you can let the buyer think he's getting a deal when you give him the rock bottom price. People have more tendancies to buy if they think they are getting a deal.

It's how we sell stuff here as well. You have your inflated asking price... your firm price for people with checks... your rock bottom price for cash.

Cash is worth more to the seller then a check. You don't need to call the bank to verify they have the funds. You don't have to wait for the check to clear the bank. They can't stop payment once they give you the cash like then can with a check. Once they give you cash it is a done deal !!!!

Show me the green !!!! :D

I suppose in a business setting I can see them dropping the price of the credit card fee or maybe tyring to make a sale "off the books" to avoid sales tax and income tax.

It's an 80" (outside to outside - 6'4" inside dimension) X 10' (inside dimension) utility trailer that I bought new in November of 2010.

It looks just like this one (less 4mos. normal wear & tear). I also have 4ea. E-track strips installed.

Call me if you're interested, Aaron.

Dang, if it was atleast 4ft longer, I'd be interested... My trailer is too narrow, 61" inside and I just bought a zero turn that is 57" ... It's a tight squeeze, yours would solve that problem, but I need the length for when I haul my atv's(2).
