First, let me state that I am NOT turned off by the sight of blood after the hunt, nor am I one to desire people to say "harvest," or wipe all the blood off a deer before taking a picture, etc (nothing wrong with either of those, just prefacing my post so everyone knows I'm not extreme one way or the other).

I stumbled across this little hunting video trailer today:

    http://www.vimeo.com/12740692

Obviously, they're taking as much of a none politically correct approach to their portrayals of the hunt as possible. While the footage is actually quite good quality-wise, and they're not over glorifying anything (it's very real), do you think they're placing too much emphasis on the "killing" part? I mean, when releasing video to the public, the images you include can and do send a message to the non hunting (and worse, anti-hunting) viewers. Can videos such as this, do more harm than good for our sport?

    What are your thoughts?

I don't think they "over" did it. I do think they could still get their message out without a few of the closeups on the muzzles and the BH shots. You're right, the footage isn't too bad though.

If you don't care for what goes on in a slaughter house, don't go in one...

    Nuff said.

I thought the footage and music were awesome. Some of the scenes were different but not offensive. We choose to partake in an activity where death is caused by massive hemoraging. I don't think there can ever be too much blood in such a case. The target audience of a hunting show is not non-hunters or anti-hunters, so I don't care how they are impacted.

I wonder if my biggest pet peeve in the video industry would exist on this DVD? Cutting away from the animal just before he falls to zoom back in on the hunter? ;)

I WANNA SEE THE ANIMAL FALL, DANGIT!!!!

    There.

Gotta say that once every month or so... :)

The footage was pretty awesome. Did they take it to far? They showed a little more blood and wounds than I would, but they could of taken it a lot further. Make a bad shot on a deer, stalk it while its still alive and come up on it and clip its throat and bleed it out on camera. Or like you see so often on TV... show the footage of a bad shot on a deer and say "nailed it perfect shot, its not going far" only to actually be watching the shot and see they almost clipped the tail it was so far back.

They aren't going to get any peta points but you also won't find Saw playing in a pre-school. They are reaching their market perfect.

I dont' think it was too bad. But I know where you're coming from. Us hunters have enough problems with the anti's as it is.

Personally I think this is too much. I like the whole story of the hunt, and the process of the harvest. If you make it only about the shot and kill you miss the most important pieces...

    Just my 2 cents.

Based only on the trailer, I like the looks of their videos. If Rage is a sponsor, they certainly did a good job promoting it with that shot on the doe, wow.

Depends on who you ask. Most people on here aren't going to have a problem with any ethical hunting situation.

Now my wife is a different story! I can't even watch animal shows when she is in the room. She doesn't want to see the baby elephant get eaten by the lions.

I agree, As hunters we like seeing the shot and blood trails, all of that fun stuff, but other people take that as animal cruality or whatever. Having the full story makes things look cleaner and more professional!

I thought that video was out of line .... it looks like their ONLY purpose was to show blood and death .... Not good ...it actually bothered me .... why would we hunters want to feature MOSTLY that? I mean the dead deer stacked on each other with a camera up its nose .... c'mon....

It personally doesnt bother me but it seems like they only focus on death it seems like. What about the walk out to the stand and the wait? It is only a trailer so maybe the full video is different. Im perfectly ok with this video however i may not let may not let my 3 year old watch this....if i had one of course lol
