The past 2 weekends have made me begin to wonder how much variation there is between guys who are official scores. I found a huge shed 2 weekends ago. I'm not an official scorer, but I came up with 99 1/4". I took it to the Indiana deer expo last weekend, and the scorers there put it at 97 7/8"....I didn't think I was off that much but didn't really worry about it. Then I took it to the iowa deer classic this weekend to enter in the shed contest...and it was scored again....this time at 100 7/8"......don't get me wrong I'm happy with the antler regardless of score....but how can there be 3 inches difference on one antler when scored by 2 different people who are "professionals" ?
In the defense of those that measured the antler, I could see how there could be different totals that one funky antler.
Yeah I agree with Sota, that is a very unique shed and it can't be easy to score. It does seem odd to have such a big difference between the two scores though. If a 100" antler is 3rd place, how big were the other two? Wow.
With that antler yes it would be up to each individual score to interrupt where to measure and you could come up with 3 different measurements easy.
I asked the scorer about it. He said the first one probably scored the g5 as the end of the main beam. If you look close there is a tiny bit of antler sticking past the end of what appears to be the end of the beam, which makes that a g5. He also said they may not have scored the big growth on the beam as a point...so who knows
