Well...eventful. Had a buck at 20yds, 15yds, and 5yds, just not the buck I was looking for. He's a new one, though, and it's the first I've seen him. He's a small 6 which should be a NICE deer next year. He came out grunting like mad and chasing two doe and two fawns around.

The downside? Aside from not seeing the tall 8, and my uncle firing off 22 rounds nearby, the deer (including the buck) circled around to my north (by this time the wind was out of the S). The doe winded me a bit, but never spooked, just got antsy. They NEVER (and I mean NEVER) circle to my north, but it is what it is.

I'm a little late but I was gonna say wait. Warm weather usually equals nocturnal deer. You only get one chance to sit a stand for the first time, things go downhill every sit from there. imo

Ben, not sure. Either sitting in my inside corner stand up by the standing corn to give my plot a break...or hunt the plot again:D

I'm leaning on giving the plot a break for the next two days. I know what I am doing Friday afternoon/evening. Tomorrow's sit is up in the air.

Pinch on Friday. I am off at noon and will hit the woods early. I might decoy out of the finger of woods tomorrow, if I can convince myself that I shouldn't be in the big tree surrounded by scrapes in my plot.:) Haven't sat the finger all year, think I will stick to plan and do it.

Why are you staying out of the plot? Wind? Temps?

Wind's not good on Friday. Tomorrow, I could get in and rationalize it, knowing that with the West wind and some thermals, I'd be ok.

It's more that I know on Saturday, Mike will be in the big tree at the end of the plot that and I will likely be up in the woods above the plot.

Yeah, I believe I MAY go back to the plot given that they're now forecasting a WNW wind Friday through Saturday. Can't really decide.

Just looked at Sat. Tough one for my all day sit. Starts WNW, ends ESE. The few morning hours will be the ones that I'm not fond of.

Yep, that's an odd one. I have a good morning stand for that WNW, though. Tonight may be one my best nights for my NE plot stand, but I DID just hunt it last evening, and those two doe did get a little scent of me, so I'm apprehensive. I just feel that if I sit in the inside corner stand, it's just a wast of time with the corn still standing.

temp is only a part of it for me, "conditions" are much for of a factor, for example rain, snow, wind etc.. when I get the right conditions I get really aggressive and hunt deep into the security cover, when the conditions are not in my favor to get in undetected, I hunt more on the fringes of security cover.

There will come a point this season (assuming the weather patterns of the last 3.5 weeks continue) where I'm going to get aggressive no matter what. We've predominantly N based winds this season (not normal). I don't have many GREAT setups for N winds, so when push comes to shove the last 1.5 weeks, I'm going in where I KNOW there are deer...scent control and all, and I'll take the risk...nothing to lose at that point.
