Once a week all season plus some vacation days I I can get them. Killed a booner on my second sit this year which is great considering I can't get out there more Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
I hunt 3-4 days a week from end of September until end of December. Some weeks a little more. Probably somewhere between 250 to 275 hours in the tree! And my wife says I have a problem!! Haha
This is my fourth season ,I have four spots I hunt. I am hunting less with greater success. I stayed away from my favorite spot for 5 weeks then opening morning shot a small buck and could have shot a second but let it go. Then i went with a friend to a second spot I got the rights to and he shot an 8 point about 190 lbs. So my first 2 hunts have been more successful than any others by staying away and hunting less. The night he shot that buck 2 bucks came in together which was a first for both of us. We only had a shot at one unfortunately.
So far this year I have hunted a total of 30 hrs since Oct. 1. That's a total of 7 sits. I have killed 2 does so far this season. My wife is very understanding and knows that I will be hunting in the months of Oct. and Nov. I am lucky in the fact that Friday is my off day from work so I usually hunt every Thursday Evening and both the morning and evening on Friday. I then will hunt either Saturday or Sunday up till the last week of Oct. and the first two weeks of November where I take 3 weeks vacation to go hunting everyday if I havent filled my tags. I also do things to help here with the kids and the house by doing the grocery shopping, cleaning and laundry between hunts or in the evening when I get home so she doesn't have to worry about it.
Last season I hunted 4-5 days a week on average (some twice a day some once). This season is much less, I've only been getting out 1-3 times per week.
About as many days as she spends going to festivals and the mall but a hell of a lot less money. Well, maybe not on the money part!
My wife says I hunt to much. I dont think so. Good thing she is at work now. LOL. I try to get out at least 4 times a week. Some wks its more and not to many is less.
I think everyone missed the obvious. As much as I need to fill my tags. My cousin filled his bow tags in Indiana on opening weekend, so other than taking his daughter out he is done. I will probably be out until the last minute being new and not ahving a darn clue what I am doing for the most part
I hunt roughly 10 hours every Saturday and Sunday and 5 hours on Monday from oct till mid January so quite a bit
I've only been about 15 hours so far. I can't hunt weekdays and I've been helping two other guys get started hunting.
