I showed up ,thats it. I was married in a hospital . The witness was a on duty nurse we flagged down on her break. Then we went to a old flea infested smelly tavern and watched Miss pussycat the dancer unrobe , Did the twist and the funky chicken, beat up a dude and then we road home on the hog thru the night. That was 35 years ago

Well, not much, but weddings used to be a lot more simple. I reserved the officers club at Ft Benning for the rehearsal dinner and reception and reserved the Ft Benning Chapel for the ceremony. My part took a half day of running around. LOL I Helped Beth decide on an invitation. She and her sisters called the florest for flowers and all that. They had their little luncheons etc etc. Her friend who was a home economist and master baker made the cakes. Beth picked the food from a list provided by the club. Weddings were a lot easier in 1971.

Everything went very well. Everyone loved my slideshow and wedding programs, so I scored some points there.

Wifey and I split it somewhat evenly:
I paid for the food and the keg, she paid for the cake.

I made her headress(seriously, you should see what those damned things cost!), she made her dress and the bridesmaid's dresses.

I taped the music for the reception, she prepared the food.

I paid for the tuxedos, she handled the guest list.

I paid for the church, she didn't ditch me at the last second like she probably should have.

Yep, pretty fair all the way round...

I handled the majority of the big stuff except the honeymoon and all of her crap (dress, flowers, etc.)

    So here's my list:
    Booked reception hall
    Booked DJ
    Booked photographer
    Worked w/Videographer
    Booked limo
Booked hotel(s) - first hotel ran out of rooms in our block so I had to scramble to find a 2nd a week before the wedding that still had rooms available
Designed, printed, cut, and glued programs, menus, and favors
    Purchased gifts for groomsmen

It was the longest year of my life doing all this crap and getting into fights about every little thing because according to my wife "I didn't care" about anything. I had more important things to worry about like getting back in time to go hunting and making sure all my gear was in order. :D

Man was I glad when that day was over.
