..........deer do you guys think pass by your stand, WITHIN bow range, each season? For this discussion, 'in range' will be 30 yards and closer. I would bet the number is staggering. I know how many deer I DO see every year, and it's a helluva lot. So I can only imaging how many I don't. Take for instance, the deer you see walk through an opening in the trees and you only see it for 5 seconds. If you had been looking behind you those 5 seconds, you wouldn't have seen it. Last fall one of my spots was a strip of trees that divided a corn field and brush thicket. I heard deer walking around in the corn very close to my tree, but never saw them. Isn't it just amazing how an animal the size of a deer can walk around unnoticed? Or, how about this? How long can they stand COMPLETELY motionless? It's absolutely amazing.
Only the good Lord knows. The most astonishing one to me was when I was in IL. I swear that big 10 that I videoed stood up not 40 yards away uphill from me. I never saw or heard him come in and suddenly there he was and he wasn't there a second ago. By the way he acted I honestly think he let me walk by him and set up and laid there for several hours after I set up. VIDEO:
I have a spot where I hunt that I am constantly hearing leaves crunching! I am not saying that the noise are deer walking around but it sure sounds like it! I am also hard hearing and have been that way my whole life!! I only wish I knew how many deer that have escaoed by me without seeing them because of my bad hearing!!
The solution to your Question would 360 deg camera set-ups 24hrs a day. I don't think you want to know that bad!
Believe it our not they make a rearview mirror that hooks to a tree. This may help you see some more area behind you. Just make sure the sun does not reflect to your face or the ground.
All ther more reason to know that we "never" see all the deer we are sharing the woods with. How many 130" bucks walk all over you and you never see them?
Oh man, i bet its crazy the numbers that can pass by at 30 yards and you never see them. I have been suprised many many times that you look to one side and have one standing there that was not there seconds ago. I dont know about you guys but I love suprises like that
Me too... they're tasty :D Don, to answer your question... I think it's relative to what kind of habitat you hunt. In NW Oklahoma, I'm going to say there are very few deer that get by without being seen... Now down where there's lots of trees, that's a different story. :D
