Have you ever shot a doe on opening day, only to see the big boy leave the scene?

This always causes me to double-check all the way around me before shooting a doe. (No matter what part of the season.)

It's a sickening feeling but it happens. I missed an opportunity 3 seasons ago because of the same thing. Just a chance you take I guess.

Nope. Does are for later. I don't like to mess up a tree the first time or two with a doe. After 2 or 3 times I figure I'm done there and will whack one.

If I want to kill a doe I will do it later in the season. I'm after a buck on the opener.

I have never had that happen. Usually on opening day the bucks are not with the does.

Ok, Ok. You guys have relieved my innermost fears. But, if I shoot a doe opening morning and Mr. Big runs off with his white flag waving... I will personally send a virus to your computer with a clip of Charles Manson boinkin Judith Krantz in a gorilla costume as your permenant screen saver.:D

Never happened to me....I'm usually pretty patient and watch the doe for awhile if I can before I shoot. If I am unsure and let the doe walk...no big deal there are lots of them.

Well, last year...not opening day, but the first doe I shot, I was coming back with the pick up to get it, when a Monster was standiing out in the field about 150yrds from my stand... would he have went to my stand... It's likely because he was headed that way, But I tell myself otherwise.

    Opening day? No

Middle of November due to my own stupidy...that dang doe cost me 2 wallhangers. I had seen a stud 8 pointer in the area each of the last 2 days. I set up in a new stand and a doe trotted by me at 10 yards. Since I had not harvested a deer yet, I put an arrow in her and while I was watching her run off a 140 class 10 pointer stood back looking at me.

He ran off and I saw her crash on that hillside. About an hour later I lowered my bow to go start the work on her and I looked up and here came that 8 pointer. I was able to get my bow back up, arrow nocked, and in my draw he busted me.

Lesson learned.....I NEVER shoot a doe in November.
