"I'm workin on it." 3 sets of 10 at 175 lb this morning... That's pretty much the most ever for me. That was going on 2 hours sleep though.
16 times in college was the most I could ever do in a row. Cranked out 12 reps this past summer, just to see how many I could do. I wish I had more time to lift seriously again.
I don't bench much anymore, it honestly tears up your shoulders so I stay away from it. In High School I could do 225 for around 15 reps if I remember correctly, that was when I weighed 180#. The most I ever benched raw was 545 which I did a few times, but that was back around 1997-1999. I blew my shoulder pretty bad the last time I put up 545 A couple of years ago a kid at work bet me I couldn't bench 225-20 times. I did a set of 25 on cell video, waited five minutes and did another set of 20. The dude never doubted me again A year and a half ago I was doing some benching with an old lifting partner for a few months and did a set of 405-10 times the last couple of times we worked the flat bench into our workout. I have also done sets of 150-15 times with dumb bells but again, I no longer do those since they jack up my shoulder.
Last Thursday I did it for 4 sets of 8-10, completing all 10 each time, as far as straight out repping it, never tried...but I would feel confident I could get it 18 times as I type this, maybe 20. As for the Cameron Hanes video, most people trashed him for the same reason they trash TV hunters, mid-west hunters with bigger racks, food plot guys etc...anything that someone does better, and we can't do, automatically gets trashed by the masses. I could care less how he hunts, or what he kills, but i would sure like to have him at the gym for about 6 weeks or so, we could get some sh!t done. Word...
I can probably do 2-3. I am in my prime right now, went from incline barbell pressing 165 - 215 just the other week. I never do bench but since I did 2 reps of incline press on my own, I figure I should be able to raise it to 225 on the bench and do it 2-3. Hoping to get 265 by the time I leave Afghanistan.
That right there is impressive. I agree though about the shoulders i dislocated one during football in HS sophomore year and it just hasnt been the same since. Everything from lifting to throwing a baseball hasnt been the same.
