I like to have 2-3 ladder stands over feeders/food plots and 2-3 climbers that I can keep in new sign/just got a good feeling places. Leave them on the tree, ready to go as soon as I get there. Then, keep a climber handy to set up on the spot, as I find a spot that I want to hunt right then and there.
One, it's a climber that's in the truck. I'm allowed to have one that I can leave up in the woods but I don't bother since some of the hunters out there are notorious for hunting out of everyone else's stands. It certainly would be more convenient to have one already up in a tree.
I have 2 stands and a blind that are all in the general area of my feeder. Depending on the wind and time of day, i decide which one to sit in.
i have 23 hangons 5 ladder stands and 2 climbers all are in the woods hung or set up except for the climbers which i only use when i notice the deer patterns move and i gotta get close
Well I am lucky enough to hunt my own land, so I have a lot of choices, since I can leave stand up, and build permanent stands. I haven't done a detailed count in a few years, but I have at least 15 ladder stands, 2 hang on, 50 permanent stands plus 2 pop-up blinds. Now we have been hunting the land for 40 years, and during the gun season we have 18 hunters opening weekend, so that is why we have so many stands. But this past fall, I did most of my bow-hunting out of my climber.
i personally have 4 portable stands and 1 blind, my brother has 4 portable and a climber, we also have 2 ...2 person ladder stands, 1 single ladder stand, 1 permanent stand, 2 moveable wooden ladder stands( only 10 to 12 feet off the ground, of which only one gets used for gun season by my dad ). but i usually only hunt 2 or 3 of my portables all season long. beyond myself and my brother the other stands are set up for the family and they only hunt for gun season.
I hunt personal/private land, so many of my stands are monitored regularly. I currently have 4 hang-ons, one climber, and one ladder. I'm looking to add possibly a more mobile climber and/or converting another climber into a hang-on.
i usually have a couple friends hunting out of stands and i go by what they tell me there seeing and my trail cameras do alot of the work also and it depends on the wind and the weather cause it always changes the deer habits like know with all the snow we got in the last couple days there gonna be hitting the standing corn and soy bean that wasnt picked so ill figure the wind direction and pick a stand
I think 10 hang ons, my brother and I share them. They are all out, some are In the woods I hunt and some are In the other woods my brother hunts. I'll be taking one down today or tomorrow so I have a spare. It will probably be going somewhere close to where I saw my big boy last Friday to hunt on different winds possibly. We'll see, not 100% sure yet I'll throw one up.
For 2006 i had 2 For 2007 i had 3 For 2008 i had 5 For 2009 i had 6 Im slowly building up my arsenal for the late season
We have several stands including a ladder stand in the yard to practice shooting from a stand. Several hang ons that are feeling unloved. But for hunting we've only used our Summit climbers, a LW alpha and sticks and our Rancho Safari shaggy suits. Since I got a climber we haven't used the LW. But it's staying in the arsenal just in case. So between us we have (2)climbers, (2) ladders, (4) hang-ons and (2) shaggy suits.
Hmmmmm.........lemme think I have about 8 LW hang-ons, 3 or 4 Gorillas, a Muddy, and and Ol' Man. I think that's about right.
