I was looking at the calendar and marking the days I will be able to hunt. Just assuming you don't bang a bruiser and quit hunting for the season......... I figure I will have 10-12 weekend days I will be able hunt before gun season (Nov 19th). I'm sure I will be able to fit in 2-5 weekday sits also. But I also know some personal things will come up spur of the moment and prevent me from hunting at times (they always do) so I think that is a wash. I'm sure I will do some post gun season sits as well in December assuming I don’t have a lot of meat in the freezer already. So, I figure I will realistically have 15 sits before gun season and then probably 2-4 sits sometime in December for an estimated total of 18 sits. How does this compare to what you have planned?
Don't really know this year as my wife is pregnant and is due around sept. 10 and the fact that I should be going back to work in sept. I should be getting out more than 20 times though.
Mine is 25+ (more like 50+) or 7-8 deer, which ever comes first. On second thought, even if I get my total goal of 8 deer in the freezer I'll probably keep on hunting. I just enjoy hunting and killing deer.
Wow, I'm obviously underestimating the amount of time many others have to hunt. Good for you guys. Wish I could be hunting that much. Should of upped the scale of my poll a little bit.
I used to average over 50 a year, last year was probably right around 30. Im looking to make it at least into the 40's this year.
I usually save all my PTO for deer season. We get combine sick and vacation at work and can use the time for whatever. I also work 4 10 hr shift so I am able to hunt every Friday(day off).
Well I have a couple of out of state hunts planned in that time span. I would say 25 days are in Ohio
+1. Really depends on how long I want the season to last. I can shoot up to five does, which I could conceivably shoot in a few weeks.
No, not at all. Here at home in Tennessee I have good stands that are a five minute walk or less from my back door. Before the clocks are set back I sit almost every afternoon after work if not every afternoon after work. I get quite a few sits after work even after the time change. Also, I hunt three states. Missouri, Tennessee and Arkansas. Missouri archery season opens September 15th and Arkansas archery season doesn't close until 29 February. In reality I only have to get in 10 sits a month to hit the 50 "sit" mark and I can assure you I go way above that. Life is good.
All depends how the season starts. The less days I end up hunting, means the more successful I was. Hopefully take a couple does early. Then I can bother the musky and steelhead for a couple weeks. That normally works out, but last year, not so much. It meant I spent more days hunting. Over 30 sits last year.
Never thought about it. Guess I'll have to beak it down. Not really all sits, but here are my approximate scheduled hunting days for this year... Wyoming Antelope-5-6 days. Ontario Bear- 6 days. Ontario Deer- 10 days. Wisconsin Deer- 20+ days. Of course, I really only hope to get in a total of 4 sits.
I have 24 full days off to hunt between weekends and vacation. I won't hunt every single one of those days, but most. Then if you count a morning & evening as 2 sits, that adds up. Throw in a few early season jaunts behind the house after work and I will be around the 30-ish range. especially having 2 states to hunt, and wanting to shoot a lot of deer this year. That isn't counting the gun hunting, which i plan to do a good bit of as well.
In Ontario, yes only one. Here in WI, our unit is herd control and we are allowed to shoot lots of does. BUT, around our cabin there are so many bears and bobcats that very few fawns have been making it through. So, we have decided that we are not shooting does this year.....the DNR can kiss my arse.
