Ojk, so I'm hearing guys in a few different places say they're shooting FP's and BH's to the "SAME IMPACT" at 70 and 80yds..... I sit here scratching my bald head thinking who the heck shoots THAT FAR??? I've practiced out to 60yds on and off, currently don't practice any further than 50 as I just don't have good enough vision or maybe skills anymore to shoot much past 50. So who REALLY shoots at 80yds, and shoots BOTH BH's and FP's enough and well enough to be able to say they both have the same POI???

At 50yds, I feel pretty confident w/ both my ST and FP's hitting well, at 80, I don't know where the hell I'd be hitting.....I know I'd have almost a 3ft holdover w/ my 50yd pin to even TRY!!!

I consistantly practice out to 60 yards with both fp's and my b-heads. I would never take a 60 yard shot at an animal, but I simply use it as a confidence booster. I have went as far as to practice out to 75 yards in the past, but that is really touchy at that point and seems pointless to me.

We shoot to 70 yards on occasion. But honestly, I'm happy hitting the butt at that distance.

We shoot this distance for one reason. It'll magnify form inconsistencies. I'd never consider a shot anywhere near this distance at anything breathing (that doesn't already have a hole I put in it).

being relatively new to the sport, coming up on my 2nd season, with my new bow i have been shooting here and there at 40, i normally do not practice past 30 for now. by the spring i want to be happy with myself at 40 without the slightest doubt.

What set-up do you have that puts out enough speed that you don't drop 15" from 80-90yds???? Even nearing 300fps, the drop at that range is CONSIDERABLE!!!

I like to shoot/practice out to 50, and shoot well there with my compound. I passed up two different 55-58 yard shots last year on herd bulls both were broadside.. 50 is where I draw the line anymore.. I probably would have taken those shots just a few years ago on those elk, must be getting old I guess, I seem to get more conservative every year.. whitetails I wouldnt even consider a 50 yard shot.. 40 or less max and only 40 if I have everything in my favor.

70 is the farthest I have ever practiced with field points. I really have no reason to try my broadheads at that distance. I have shot at targets over 100 (me and dubbya) last year at the G2G just for giggles :D It was a wing and a prayer :D I hit the ELK target in the neck at 100 :D

I have shot BH to 65 yds one summer.
Anymore I usually only go out to 50-55. I have enough room to shoot 110 in my yard. I had thought about setting up and sighting in a 100 yd pin for fun. But never got around to doing so.

Ill practice out to beyond 80yrds but would never dream of taking a shot at a live animal at those distances. I find that practicing further distances just makes me way more confident when it comes to those 35-40yrd shots at game

The longest I can shoot in my backyard is around 35-40 yards, so that is the furthest distance that I shoot.

40 is the max where i shoot in the summer, but through the colder months when i am inside (not by choice) the range only goes to like 25yds

I won't vote because I do not practice these shots with Broadheads. But we've arranged a 94 yard shot at the club. I do it when I'm not worried about losing an arrow. We have more common shots of 64 & 80 yards. I will NEVER shoot at an animal that far. The purpose for us is the thought process. It's a confidence builder for 30 yard shots; and it's just darn fun sometimes.

Can only get 60 yards out of my place in MI. I will put an 80 yard range in here soon as the weather breaks.

    There wasn't an option for 100+ yards?

So I just voted 40 yards ;) Seriously though, that's where its stopped prior to now. This off season I think it would be fun to step out to 50 maybe 60 though :)
