How many trail cameras is enough for each area that you hunt? I have 5 or 6 tree stands but often hunt on the ground. Should you have a trail camera for every spot? I am just curious what everyone else does. This past year, I actually hunted a new area when I saw to bucks butting heads. I never did any scouting but I had deer at 5 yards, and I was on the ground just sitting by an oak. I love seeing the deer on the trail cameras but how many of the bucks on camera actually appear during hunting season?
I hunt 40 acres and I have 6 ladder stands, 6 hang on's, 2 climbers, and 4 ground blinds. You never know which food plot they'll be on and what wind I need to hunt. I run 10 cameras all year long. "Live Life at Full Draw"
I think it depends on the individual property, your goals, your budget and the time of the season. Too many cameras can cause you to put too much pressure on deer as you check them. While it can be nice to have a camera at each of your hunting spots, I avoid this to an extent, again to keep from over pressuring an area.
Have access to 7000 acres or so with the hunt club. Right now we are putting out abut 15 cameras and just want to find the deer. After we find them and see they are there sometimes we will mve the camera. Once it gets to August or so we will have the cameras at the areas we will be primarily fcusng on at the beginning of the season. I dont wrry about pressure to much until it gets to september or so be uase i cant cntrol who is there and where they go. We will have 3/4 ladder stands, 2/3 hang ons, and about 6 more sets of climbing sticks up for me to take my LW stand. We will still use our climbers and i will still use the LW sticks and Stand set up too...
I hunt on a 180 acres and I run two camera's all year long. The most I put up it is 4 at a time. I have one by one of my stands that I leave there all year. It's a Covert so I only change batteries once a year...lol.
