Ty, deer don't read the bible so it does no good to hunt them according to what the bible says. I mean no offence when I say this, not bashing the bible or beliefs.

Of course they don't read the bible...but they are governed as it describes. It's a part or aspect of my hunting not the sole thing I rely on in hunting. :) I have many a day that the moon, the wind, the pressure, the food sources all point to a bust and I see deer....doesn't mean I throw it all out, just means they are all factors which odds are greater history in my logs has shown when more line up.

If I have time to hunt, I'm out there. I don't look at pressure, moon phase, any of that. I just check the wind, decide what stand to sit, and head out there. There's over 1,000" of antler shoulder mounted on my wall as a result  Not knocking anybody that goes all out with moon phases and pressure and whatnot, it's just not for me.

Inches of antler isn't always a sign of a good hunter  bahaa!

I don't plan my hunts around the moon phase but I do expect to see mid-day movement when the moon is in the bright stages. Much of the movement is also determined by the temperatures at the time. I drive a minimum of 90 minutes to get to the closest area I hunt so I typically plan on sitting all day regardless of the moon phase. For me, there is no comparison to the number of deer I see between 10 am and 3 pm on full or bright moon days and dark moon days. This year, from 11/5 through 11/20 I sat a total of 8 full days (4 full moon and 4 no moon) and saw zero deer on the dark moon phase days between 8am and 3pm. On full moon days I averaged 5 deer a day between 10 am and 3 pm. Temps were in the 30's and 40's which is optimal for deer movement in the areas I hunt this time of year. Obviously, during the rut bucks are going to move more. November is always a good time to hunt bucks since they are moving then...every year. The full moon has just been a very good time of year for me to see mid-day movement. I say if you can hunt, hunt; and if you can stand to stay in the stand on full moon days, do it.

From my experience, deer will move in the rain but in an absolute down pour they are as uncomfortable moving as they are in high winds. That's just in areas I hunt in. Deer are like dogs; they get wet enough, they shake the water off and move on. I believe a deer's sense of smell in a rain is less effective so they generally "hole up" until it lets up. That typically doesn't take all that long and they are back at it. If it's a bed to food pattern you're hunting, I think your chances of success in the rain are better than hunting a buck trying to sniff out a doe.

I feel like full moons screw me here and there when it comes to feeding patterns, but other than that I think hunters give the moon too much credit.

My perception is that the weather impacts deer movement more than the moon phase.

You are never more alive than you are the instant you let go!

I believe moon phase is useless as far as my hunting goes. Also, the rut takes place at roughly the same time every year regardless of moon phase.

Bucks tend to freshin scrapes after the rain, it's always a good idea to know where they are during the early season rainy days
