Fiance, likes shooting guns. has never gone with hunting, but recently she has been hinting/poking around that she would like to get into shooting a bow. So.... long story short, what would you start your wife/so out with for a bow? I don't really want to spend another 1500 on another Mathews, but I don't want her to have a pos she's gonna have to replace next year. Thanks for the advice.

my GF doesnt mind shooting guns and will sometime go along to scout and walk around/ride atv. but hunting is my time, i dont think i wud ever want to open up that can of worms.... but it wud be different i guess if she grew up hunting and was capable of doing it by herself.

i wud get something cheap for sure... so many bows out there now a days with a wide range of draw weights.. get something that is highly adjustable wouod be my thinking. the mission line wouldnt be a bad place to start looking

When I started bowhunting, my wife wanted to shoot too. We both got Drenalins. She still shoots off & on throughout the summer and hunts a few sits each year.

If you are unsure of how much she'll use it or if she'll stick with it, get one of the many fully adjustable bows out there, like the Mission Craze. That way, if she doesn't use it, you can set it up as a back up bow for you :tu:

Down the road if she really likes it, she can choose and buy her own bow.

I got my wife the Diamond Infinite Edge. So if she wants heavier poundage, she can work up to it. But not yet on the Bowhunting.

My girlfriend gun hunted before she met me, then she decided to get into bowhunting. She bought a Bear Apprentice used for $150 bucks and it does the trick for her. I told her she can buy a new one after next season.

+1 on going the cheep rout first, I got my wife a used bear recurve for 60 bucks after she expressed a desire to start shooting with me and to go stumping. She still shoots it from time to time, but has never felt the need to upgrade. It serves it's purpose when she feels like shooting and I don't feel like I threw a bunch of money away on a bow that hangs on the wall most of the year.

My wife is an avid hunter both bow and gun for deer and really loves to turkey hunt. I wouldn't have it any other way otherwise she would get pretty lonely from Sept to Jan

The main thing is getting a bow they can grow with, much like a kid. My girlfriend started at 35 pounds and even that was a struggle at first. She's up to 45 now.
