do any of you upgrade to a new bow every year? if so why? and to what? and some of the ups/downs of doing so? what are u looking for when you walk into the pro shop?
I love playing with new stuff. Also, depreciation on one year verses three is quite a difference. One year selling only costs me about 150 bucks. That's 150 to shoot the latest and greatest for a year. As long as I use the heck out of it, it's worth it to me.
Only when I have an active dealership. I wouldn't pay full retail for a new bow every year but if I'm going to get a deal on one I won't pass it up. I've got 2 new Elite Z28's in the last year.
I've never been one to upgrade my bow. Last year when I bought my marquis was the first year I bought a "new" bow and it was still last years stock. I just have never taken archery all that seriously until last year despite shooting a bow off and on since I was 5. Now that you guys have all helped me get addicted, I am thinking about getting a new bow next year and possibly keeping my marquis if work keeps up like it has been. I am terrible for wanting new stuff (dirtbikes, gear, golf equipment, football stuff etc). I go with the old nike commercials of looking like a pro and feeling like a pro. haha.
I'm currently on my second bow over the past 14 hunting seasons. I have no desire to blow a lot of cash every season or two on new bows when the one I have still does a great job for me
i heard that.my wife always grits on me everytime a new bow commercial comes on i guess she can see the gears grinding in my head or something ha-ha
I bought a 2 year old new bow, but getting a bow to fit my mutant draw length is such a pain, that I think I will just stick with this one for a bit - not many folks need a bow that pulls to 34"... I had hoped to pass it along to my son, but he shoots lefty.
I started out with a martin back in 2000, then went to a hoyt viper a few years later, since 2004 been using the bow I have now, 2004 hoyt vipertech and it still does the trick. It is killing me big deer, so thats fine with me. It might not have the speed that the new bows have but it very accurate. Maybe in another year or so I will consider retiring that bow and getting another hoyt!
ya I wish I could, I actually set my good buddy up with one at the local pro shop here in belvidere IL. He loves it, and I'm sure I would too!
I've had 3 new bows In 25 years (2 compounds and a recurve). Been using my 3rd one (recurve) going on 15 or 16 years. I need another one bad for a back up In case something goes wrong with the one I have. The last 5 years I've been saying I'm going to get another recurve for a back up, still haven't got It done.
