Me too. along with some swing. Asleep at the Wheel for instance. But mostly alt country:
James McMurtry, Slaid Cleeves, Townes vanZandt, Jimmy Dale Gilmore, Guy Clark, Emmy Lou Harris, Delbert mcClinton, the list goes on and on. In my car CD player right now is some jammin Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown.

Metallica still tops my list. I like a lot of old school country, a little of the new.

Same here. I listen to country 90% of the time, but will also listen to about anything else. I can't say i'm too picky.

I really like Red Dirt Music. It's a type of music that has really gotten big in the past few years and I don't see it stopping anytime soon. A lot of the stations around here in KS are starting to play it. Go down to Texas & Oklahoma and it's on the radio everywhere. Whether it's Randy Rogers or Stoney Larue, they're making some good stuff.

Yeah, I don't further classify my music past the general labels, lol. Country, rock, alternative, rap, etc.

I listen to almost anything but mostly country. Classic rock is always good. The only thing I don't really care for is newer rap. It all sounds the same.

Man i have a big varity on this one. I grew up with big hair bands of the 80's but get burnt on some of it anymore unless, like ACDC come out with some new stuff. I like country as well, like the new Toby Keith Dirty water song. Im also into some of the new alternative rock like 3 Doors down, Lincoln park, and such.

Find an online red dirt station and listen to it for a little while. I have a feeling that you would probably like it. Just dont expect a honkey tonk type music or a teenie bopper girl singing about her high school prom.:d

Well this thread is about my 2nd biggest passion. I LOVE music. I've really been searching and digging deep and listening to almost exclusively Independant Country/Rock.
Red Dirt Country- AWESOME. Saw Randy Rogers Band a few weeks back in Madison. Also saw Ragweed there last October.
Anyone looking to check it out go to www.radiofreetexas.org it's free to join but you dont have to join to listen.
Most new country does not enthuse me at all. Love the old stuff tho.
The Drive-By Truckers are my favorite band. It is bad-butt rock n roll. real rock n roll. Check em out please! The song writing and stories are amazing!

Yeah man, it is great. I can sit and play solitaire and listen to that all night... it has been done! and not on purpose, it just sort of happens. If anyone is interested in a list of people/bands that would fall into the category of Red Dirt Country or Indie Rock, send me a PM. I got lists!

I am definetly intersted in getting some new country bands, the CMT regulars are kinda gettin old. I have been looking for something new other than Taylor Swift/Carrie Underwood/Keith Urban/Kenny Chesny/ect. Shoot me a PM with some bands and I will download some new tunes...

P.S. I am listening to some Hank Williams III and this kiss butt!!!

I was a music major in college. I do Long hair from Beethoven to country. I don't do rap or hardcore rock. Lots of Oldies stuff.

Once you start listening to Texas country... You won't listen to "regular" country anymore. :deer:
