    That's right. I said genre.

Anyways, I've always considered myself a fan of strictly modern rock and a little bit of classic rock. Over the past few years with the addition of my Sirius subscription, I find myself listening to country much more often. I think there's plenty of it that is garbage, but I like a lot of it. Not afraid to admit it. I knew a bunch of ya will bust my butt about it, but I find the music to be pretty simple and down to earth. I like that.

So, are you guys mostly a one genre deal or what?

I listen to more genres than not. I mostly listen to country. When my sirius is working I have on blue collar comedy playing.

What I don't like is techno, ragae, and hard rock (ie slip knot and all that stuff). I use to listen to things like metallica and slip knot during sporting events years ago when I was an athlete, but I've grown out of the style.

Everything... Literally. If it has a good beat, and the lyrics are comprehendable [SPL?] I will listen to it.
It really comes down to what mood I am in. Lately, I have been listening to chillin music.

Bob Marley, Isley Brothers, Some country, Classic rock [slow], anything that will keep me calm. I have had a bad week though, so that will probably be changing up to something along the lines of American Head Charge, Metallica, and things like that.

Then there is always a spot in my playlists for The Doors, The Beatles, Led Zepplin, The Who, The Guess Who, Jefferson Airplane, Barry McGuire, and all of the good old time music.

Although most of my music listening involves country, I do listen to everything. I have gone through phases of just about every kind of music.

When it comes to country I really enjoy the old stuff: Haggard, Dylan, Kristofferson, Hank Jr., Willie, Steve Earle, Waylon, even Conway Twitty:d.

The only new country I like is a style called Red Dirt. It is pretty much just rednecks singing about getting drunk, going to prison, and all the relationships they've screwed up.....good stuff :tu: I probably know every song on CMT at the moment, but that doesn't mean I enjoy them. Most new songs are good, but you can't sink yourself into them like you can with the old stuff.

I really do like rock quite a bit...along the lines of Avenged Sevenfold, Three Days Grace, Metallica, all that good stuff.

I listen to quite a varied music list.
Country & newer rock are what I listen to the most. I'm not a fan of some of the more "legendary" classic bands. If you guys only knew what was on my Ipod...

    Ok here goes.
In the "Red Dirt"/"Texas Country" genera we have : My all time favorite Cross Canadian Ragweed, Stoney LaRue, Jason Boland, The Great Devide, Wade Bowen & West 84, Bart Crow Band, Bleu Edmonson, The Lost Trailer (nothing fron the past 2 years from them though they went mainstream)Shooter Jennings, Charlie Robison, Robert Earl King Jr., Randy Rogers Band, Honeybrowne, Red Dirt Rangers (the original G's), Elevenhundred Springs, Roger Creager, Deryl Dodd, Eli Young ,Kevin Fowler, PAT GREEN, Brandon Rhyder, Jack Ingram, Mickey and The Motorcars, No Justice, Reckless Kelly, Hank Williams III, and cant forget The Bastard Sons Of Johnny Cash, and the Interstate Troubadors. Aha Thanks for reminding me, Old Crow Medicine Show and Cast Iron Filter.

I know I am leaving some out but these are just the ones I can think of right now.

Other than that I like a little bit of rock, nothing too hard but not to soft either.

I enjoy good fiddle music and a variety of bluegrass music.

Alot. Every Genre has some good songs. Country and variations of Rock a little more it seems.

My all time favorite though is Grunge. Best music ever made. Nirvana, STP, Pearl Jam, Collective Soul, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden. Amazingness.

I do want to mention how pretty much anything rock made these days SUCKS besides a select few Linkin Park, Green Day, Offspring and Shinedown songs.

-Bluegrass: Old Crow Medicine show Dan Timynski(sp) and all the other greats

-Country: Blake Shelton - Garth Brooks - Alabama - Brooks & Dunn

-Southern Gospel: Earnie Hass & Sig. Sound - Gaithers - Others I like but not familiar w/ names

-Contemporary Christian: Jeremy Camp - Casting Crowns

-Hip hop/rap: Whatever makes my two little 8"s thump.

    I like it all.

Oklahomans call it "Red Dirt" because they don't like what it's really called......Texas Country (they're jealous):d

I also listen to a little regular country, rock, hard rock, and classical (it puts me to sleep)

Classic rock mostly, Aerosmith,GNR,AC/DC,Santana are my favs in that genre. I can't stand Boston, Steely Dan, Jackson Browne or the Doors.

New country is pretty much pop crap to me, so I don't listen to it much. I can listen to Garth, Travis Tritt, AJ, etc. If I have to listen to country, I like the old stuff like George Jones, Hank, John Anderson.

I don't like pop at all. 2 other bands that are on my Ipod are The Beatles and Creed....not sure what genre they fit into???

I really have a pretty wide variety when it comes to music. It's funny, because when I was younger we tried hard not to be "rednecks", and hated country music, but the older I get.........the more it seems that I discover my inner redneck :d . I like most everything, but if I'm cruising around listening to radio only, it's usually on a country station.

I may regret posting this, but right now my main playlist on the iPhone includes the following:

    Alabama
    Allman Brothers
    Ashton Shepard
    Bad Religion
    Beastie Boys

Jim I am a native Texan born and bred but I do think that there is a definite difference in "Red Dirt" and "Texas Country" a different sound, it seems like. Anything that came out of Stillwater: CCR, Jason Boland, Great Devide etc.... just sounds like Red Dirt and there are alot of similar bands that came out of Oklahoma and North Texas. And then you have the "Texas Country" like Bart Crow, Pat Green, and even though he is from Arizona I would say a pretty influential guy there would have to be Roger Cline and his Peacemakers, Honeybrowne, Roger Creager etc.... they have a different sound to em. I would definately seperate the two sounds.

Just about all of them. I do not listen to much modern coutry (pop with a twang), pop, or hip hop. But other than that, all of them. All depends on my mood.
