I took a kid turkey hunting once. He didn't like it. He said it was okay until the doctor starting pulling the BB's out.
Being a teacher gives me a lot of opportunity and motivation to get kids involved in outdoor activities. I'm one of two NASP instructors at the school I teach at, we run about 350 kids through archery classes each year and have been at it 4 years now. I am fortunate also in that my principal asked me to design my own outdoor oriented advisory class, so, I created and teach an Outdoor Education curriculum, that's another 90 kids per year intruduced to the outdoors, I am also the Foresty Team coach of 12 students a season, were we compete in the Idaho State Foresty state championships and finally my own two sons are well versed in just about everything outdoors that they want to be a part of.
Numerous kids to archery via the National in Schools Archery Program. 7 kids so far into hunting including my oldest son and as soon as my 9 yr old hits 10 he will be hunting also. Both of my sons shed hunt and fish and have won numerous fishing tournaments.
I have taken my wife's nephew out before, he has not been biten just yet, he may i hope. Then i have taken both my kids out with me to 3D tourn. before and my son likes to shoot his bow. I have taken both my kids out hunting with me in archery season. I didn't kill anything. they didn't last to long thou. the past 2 years i have taken both of them hunting with a rifle in the Youth mentor season. My daughter missed a buck last season and my son killed a spike the season before. Me and my daughter goes for HUNTER ED CLASS in April. i cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D
I have yet to introduce anyone to the outdoors, (i know, i know) But I have two nephews, (1 and 2) and can't wait to get them started once they get old enough.
