Early on I missed one small buck 3 times. My buddy was in a tree down the drawl, but was watching me. He now calls me Pocahontas because he said he saw arrows flying every time he looked my way. When I got down, I had 2 broadheads buried in oak trees. One I had to screw the arrow off the head and leave it in the tree. Today I think about that and there is no way I would ever shoot at that little buck. What was I thinking?
Zero.. First deer I ever shot at was a doe at 18 yards drilled her perfect shot double lung and recovered her 80 yards from where I shot her. I have missed two deer in the 23 years I have been hunting and both were due to a limb deflection from a branch I never noticed when I shot.
First shot with a bow was last yr shot and missed short thought deer walked out at a tree I ranged earlier at 30 yards.turned out he was around thirty eight yards.missed high on a doe last week 22 yard I got all hyped up in my head on how I was about to kill my first deer with bow.got the bad shakes and she ducked the arrow.
I started at a young age and all we had was recurve at the time . Anchor points and bending at the waist were a must . Now that you've heard my excuse ....... I could not possibly remember all the deer I missed back then
Three, and all were close range too. I know the first two I don't even think I aimed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My first year I killed one my third sit and then my very next sit missed a nice 8 point. Took me a few years to finally seal the deal on a buck.
I missed one before I nailed my first, a doe at 20 yds and it was probably still a touch too early to shoot (could barely see my pins). First one I shot was a button buck at maybe 3 yds. I was shaking so bad I couldnt even dial the phone to tell my buddy I would need help dragging a deer out. Turns out I didnt even really need the help because the dang thing weighed maybe 45 lbs. lol
It took me 3 years before I even had a chance. when the time came, I did everything right. Hit her right in the shoulder. The problem was, my bow was so out of tune that my mechanical broadhead didnt open right and it barely penetrated her. I have since had my bow tuned professionally and I bagged a Black Buck out in West Texas this last year. I have yet to get a whitetail with one but the season for us is young and I'm hunting every chance I get.
