First one I missed I didn't even get a shot off she must of been watching me. I stood up to pee in a bottle and just seen white running. I was young and was first hunt ever.
The first shot i ever took found blood on one blade of a G5 Montec and one vane. She bled a little for about 30 yards and was never seen again. The second I completely whiffed over her back. Both shots were in my first season shooting a Bear Whitetail Master bow. I then found this websitewith the plethera of knowledge here I learned about proper tuning and shot placement and have not missed since(I also upgraded to a Mathews Monster) Thanks to all of the members for their .02
Missed my first one. Shot at the stinker twice - it never moved. I forgot there was a peepsight on the bow...
Lost count.... I've been hunting all my life with shotguns, rifles and muzzleloaders. Something about the close proximity with a bow, the slow movement of a browsing deer tears me apart, I can barely keep my breathing controlled, let alone a pin on the deer. That excitement alone is what keeps me coming back. It might take forever but buddy I'll tell you what, it'll be an awesome day when I connect!
We all miss don't let missing discourage you from bow hunting. Just learn from every miss. How I practice with out a range finder is I walk up to multiple targets and guess the distance take a shot then hit it with my range finder it's helped me a lot. The reason I do this is because if you have a buck of a life time doggin a doe you may not have time to range find it so its good to practice judging the distance with out it I think. Your shots shouldn't be to off from just a few yards with your new bow. I'll even bet you won't see much of a difference at 4 or 5 yards.
One, I shot under a thick 8 pointer who was just a few yards out from the base of my tree quite a few years back. It still haunts me because he was mature. I should have let him pass and I could have shot at him quartering away. Young and impatient.
I shot about a foot over the back of the first deer I ever loosed an arrow at. I was sitting on the ground and a couple does came out into a grassy path between the woods and standing corn. Pretty sure I used my 30 yard pin and she was about 12 yards.
I can relate to this. My first was about 18 yards and I used my 40. I don't think she ever knew she was even shot at.
I didn't get a opportunity at a deer last year which was my first and practiced all off season. This year my shot was a ten harder and I didn't miss. Hoping to keep up the practice and keep getting better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
when i was like 11 years old me and my dad were sitting in our double stand and a spike buck came in and my dad was going to let me shoot it. forgot my release at home so i had to use my dads and i couldn't reach the trigger. He ended up pulling the trigger for me but i missed. The spike came back again and i shot with fingers and missed. the buck ended up coming back another 4 times before we gave up. So I missed 6 shots in one sitting at the same deer... See if anyone can beat that..
Put in an embarrassing amount of practice, and first deer that ever presented a shot I hit but in the liver. I was shaking so much I couldn't hold the pin in one place!
I missed a foot over the back of my very first deer. Right after the shot I realized my anchor points were off due to the angle which altered my sight plain....that never happened again and killed a few deer after that. Second miss was on a BIG mature buck, I hit a limb...from that point on I took a mental inventory of my surroundings and payed close attention to my shot. That never happened again and I killed a lot of deer after that.
I was 14,, (38 now)I was hunting in a natural ground blind in a laurel patch. My dad was 70 yards away in his tree keeping an eye on me. Somehow a yearling doe crept up on me 10 yards away staring at me....I was so nervous i raised the bow and drew with her looking right at me..I released the arrow, it went about 4 feet over her back and hit a huge glacier of a boulder behind her....sparks flying everywhere like it was the 4th of july when that broadhead skidded across the boulder! My dad started laughing out loud...LOL i went picked up my arrow almost in tears, and sat back down in my laurel!!
I missed six before the first one out of a tree stand, not enough practice from an elevated position. Connected first time from a ground blind.
Killed the first one I ever shot at (although it was a spine shot). After that I missed on a couple due to over-confidence and not practicing enough.
