Unlimited is for most of the state but not all. Lets be honest, there are plenty of does as is evident by all the carcasses on the sides of all roads starting in October. In MD they are more of a liability to the general public, and only a resource to a small part of the population.

    I generally take 2-3 deer a year.

Here in RI we are divided into different zones and each zone has different quotas. The zone I hunt allows 2 buck and 3 does this year.

Kansas... 1 buck and depending on hunt unit up to 5 does. You can move to different units to fill doe tags. This is whitetail. Mule deer you can buy an archery tag (resident) but have to be drawn for gun or ml tag. One buck is either whitetail or mule deer.

MnHunterr - do you know the reasoning behind that? Seems a rather low number. Most states are trying to drastically reduce their herd. Is Mn
herd low in numbers? Just wondering.

4 in my local management zone. 6 total state wide, no more than two bucks in statewide.

It has been like this for the better part of 5 years... The DNR is apparently trying to say that the deer population is not doing well here in Minnesota (I wholeheartedly disagree). We had a run of very harsh winters where it hurt the population, but I believe it is fine.

Another factor in my opinion is mismanagement in previous years, causing the "decline" in deer numbers. The rifle season falls during the rut and there were years where people were allowed to kill 5 deer per person and they would absolutely kill those 5 deer, and then kill 5 more deer for each family member they could buy tags for.

Just a few thoughts. No idea if they are true/false but it's what I've come to believe.

Usually 1 .... But I am going to try to get them to line up in front of me this year and with a clean pass through I might kill two.

As others have said we can kill 2 bucks and an unlimited number of does here in IL. Personally speaking I will try to shoot a single doe at some point and if I can fill both buck tags that would be great. Also, I have two farms I'm hunting with pretty low doe numbers so I don't intend on shooting does there.

Not to get off subject but when deer populations drop everyone always blames the DNR for issuing tags. I say we start looking at other hunters who needlessly shoot more deer than they should.

6, with the ability to kill 3 bucks. Virginia has had to expand the tag limit bc our hunter numbers are plummeting. Up until the 1990s Virginia was still pretty much a country boy state, now it has morphed into more of a suburban environment in the areas that hold the greatest population centers. That equals people not hunting as much.

I buy my rifle and bow tags all at the same time. I get 1 bow buck tag, 1 rifle buck tag & 4 doe tags for which ever weapon. Can buy bonus doe tags too but 4 or 5 adult deer are enough to sustain me through the next year!

1 for bow and 1 with a rifle if I get one, I'm 3 for 11 in rifle tag lottery in my lifetime. Thank god a bow tag is OTC!
