I have hunted a total of 7 days full days (2 sits a day) and one afternoon sit. So that's 15 sits. I have seen a total of 16 deer from the stand this year. I will hunt tomorrow for 2 sits and that will likely be it. So what is your ratio of sits to sightings?
I have only been able to hunt 2 sits this year. 1st sit i saw a button buck and i shot a 9 pt. 2nd sit saw nothing. Probably my last bow sit of the year Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Only 2 days so far. Weather and schedule have not been my friend. Will get another sit tomorrow afternoon on a stand I have setup closer to home on some Open land where I got permission from the older to keep a stand setup. Hope to fill the doe tag that is only good in that county. I will get some more after rifle season is over. Hopefully my daughter gets her first deer with the rifle so I don't have to worry about filling the freezer.
Been out in the stand 2 times so far. Nothing moving until dark up till a few days ago so been getting things done for winter. Darn cold front going through now and I don't do cold weather well at all and neither does arthritis. Upper 20's with 10 wind chill. Supposed to get back to normal (20+ warmer) next week so will be out then.
Every one of them since October 1. Both morning and night. Minus I think 4 sits due to weather. Somewhere around 80 sits I guess that equates to. Deer sightings in relation? I have no idea...... a lot (until recent).
Own 2 seasonal businesses. Work 7 days a week 14 hour days from March to October. Pretty much shuts down around the opener. I deal with leftover business stuff between hunts or at night.
Not enough but usually 20 to 30 days. Not married and kids grown and gone. I just like sitting out there reading a book watching the world go by. Like Fred said " when up in my stand I am 16 ft closer to GOD." Just spent a week in western Kansas saw lots of deer and only shot one coyote. Great time.
About 12-15 sits total per year. Average sit around 2.5 hours. Have seen a deer every sit this year except the last two.
Yeh man, I am not jealous of the hunting celebs, I would likely burn out on hunting, however, 2 days a week, 2 full days would be satisfying...just enough and not too much
have hunted 5 times so far. Seen a good many deer anywhere from 4 to 20 a hunt(we have pretty high numbers in the area of MS I am hunting) Have seen 7 bucks, 2 of which have been mature older deer. We have a long season, hope to get 20-25 hunts in this year. Do a good bit of duck hunting as well so that takes away some of my deer hunting time. I am definitely ready for our rut to start up, still have about a month to go before it cranks up. Hoping we get some extended cooler weather soon as it has been going from hot to cold for what seems like forever. Finally starting to get some consistent cool mornings but still heating up into upper 60s during the day.
I usually start about 10-15 and hunt 3 sits a week. Average sit is about 4 hours. This season I am averaging 7 deer per sit. Last season I hunted exactly 40 sits and ended up averaging 5.6 deer per sit. I track how many deer I see in each stand to eliminate unproductive spots.
I’ve only gotten to sit 3 times this year... I’ve seen two spike bucks and a doe with two fawns. Luckily I’ve gotten the go ahead from the wife to do an all day sit tomorrow and a morning sit the day after. Kind of a different year for me with having the kiddo a few months back. Last few years I was averaging 100+ hours in the stands during archery season.
I go straight from work, every Saturday, for an afternoon hunt. Now that Sundays are open, in Virginia, I get 2 sits every Sunday. If the weekend is rainy, I'll sneak out of work early during the week for an afternoon. Benefits of being the boss.
I’ve hunt 8 days so far. Seen any where from 4-9 deer a set. Shot one doe, shot at & missed 2 bucks, my son shot a hog. I still have plenty of hunting ahead. Benefits of working for yourself, you get to make your own schedule & my customers know when deer season comes around that I’ll be gone most of the time. I get six weekends worth of sits, and in September I sneak out after school while the sun is still setting after 7:00. I usually take a personal day the last weekend of archery only season too. Then I get six weeks of rifle season where I get to use my bow if I want to. I'm out of tags for the year, except for a general season elk tag that only allows me a cow or a spike anywhere close to home.
I do more every year. I probably got 20 sits this year in (1.5 to 4 hours each) and I've seen more deer, more bucks, and had more shot opportunities. Must be a coincidence, right Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Depends. Some years more some less. I think I only got to sit in the bow stand 4 times last year. This year it's been about 10 with one being an all day sit. Even though I've still got my buck tag it's been a lot of fun this year.
