How many arrows do you lose in a year? This is including all of the practice shooting right up until the last day of bow season. Im also curious how many arrows do you shoot in an ordinary day of practice?
I typically lose 3-6 a year. Can't say I ever lose any practicing... Most my loss occurs shooting at small game or those instance when I don't get a complete pass through. I shoot a set of 6 arrows praticing at two different targets.
I seem to lose a good bit. But I shoot about 75 shots a day, atleast 4 days a week if not more, all year long. So its a lot of chances of a mess up. I also have a target panic issue that ive been fighting for years. I have got so much better and can control it way more then I could in the past...but every now and then it reminds me its still there. I prob go through 6 arrows a year just target shooting. I dont really lose many but the end up broke...hit a rock or something.
Ive only got 1 season under my belt to guage this on, but I lost 2 total last year between practice and hunting. 1 burried in the off shoulder of my buck and broke off. The other I lost in the in the first few weeks i had my bow and thought attempting a 40 yard shot was a good idea. This year ive broken 1, armadillo broadside at 15 yards. smoked him, and a rock on the pass through! Busted out my instert, peeled back the aluminum jacket on my FMJ, and his shell ripped a fletching off.
I usually lose 3–4 a year practicing. We've got grass behind our target and if you miss, the arrows burrow underneath the grass and disappear. Very, very hard to find then. My dad has talked about getting a metal detector it's so big of a problem. Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
Not too many. I lost one at the GTG in 2011 that someone found this year back near the elk target. Luckily, I have not lost any or damaged any this year. I also do NOT group my shots when practicing which helps a LOT. I aim and shoot at different spots. Those darn Easton Full Metal Jacket arrows are too expensive!!
I'll send in the whiff and destroy a couple before season. ( working on a better backstop) Similar to the yips in golf id reckon? Lately ive been practicing in groups of 3. That was a first.
I told you to stop shooting that target from 10 yards in, see what happened. You keep center punching that target your going to have that spot good and worn out before long.
I lost the first one this year in practice in many many moons. there was a mason jar involved I lose maby 1-2 a year breakage shooting game.
Pretty much the same as Bloodcrick......I have to be doing something stupid at this stage in the game to lose an arrow practicing, but generally seem to lose or break 1 or 2 a season passing through game.
Last year I lost a lot. 8 if I remember right. But i was having major rest issues that I didn't know about till about 4th arrow in. Then I lost 2 more while trying to deal with that. Then I lost 2 while trying to practice at longer ranges. While I have a very safe place to shoot if I miss the arrow is more than likely lost. This year I have lost 1. Right after I got my bow. My old bow was set at 10/20/30. My new bow is 20/30/40 and I got mixed up like my second time out and used the second pin thinking it was a 20 pin when in reality its a 30. Sailed it right over the target.
Zero. I shoot all the time but even with hunting and league shooting I cant recall the last time I lost an arrow and I've been bowhunting for 36 years. How on earth are you guys losing arrows???? I dont consider wrecking an arrow by hitting with another as losing an arrow. I dont shoot at the same spot so I dont wreck them either but based on some of the posts here some guys are still shooting multiple arrows at the same spot. Who does that????
Funny, well, not really but I just got in from shooting in my back yard (it's big) and lost an Easton Bloodline, I know the shot went low but can't find it. Sighting in a new bow, transferred my sight from the old bow to the new bow thinking it would be accurate. Well, I guess not, still learning here.
2 slugs on a mason jar and a 16 oz beer later on empty stomach == 4' over target at 50 yards 1st loss in a very long time. yeah that was stupid!! I consider others as lost as in breaking them shooting game. Coyotes are hell on them. lodge one in opposite shoulder on Deer and other shoulder breaks them when running and so on!
Whenever it's a slow day and a rabbit or squirrel runs by I'll lose one. But this year I've broken two practicing and shooting at woodchucks.
