From the IL regs: "Coyotes may be hunted on private property using dogs, archery devices, any type and caliber of handgun, any legal type of rifle including large capacity semi-automatic rifles, and shotguns using any type of shell excpet for slugs (note... there are exceptions for slugs during the firearm deer seasons when coyote hunting is closed except to deer hunters with unfilled firearm deer permits in their possession). When deer hunting with a shotgun, make sure that the magazine has been fitted with a plug which makes the shotgun incapable of firing more than three consecutive shots. So, yes... you can use a muzzle-loader rifle for yotes. And since I typed all that out... you owe me. I'll bring the AR and a coyote call. You tell me when and where.
tagged 2 so far, but no more meat.....i will be out this weekend fri-sun in Wisconsin hoping to tag something (nice buck i hope)...this one is going in for some summer sausages/jerky, so i hope i see something....
I will be out the next 3 weekends. I hope to get my first deer one of these weekends. I have 1 buck and 2 doe tags...so I have some work to do!
Absolutely, every weekend except for Christmas until Jan 15, depending on weather. Have a buck and 2 does, but will gladly take another..
Hoping for some cold weather, it has been mid 30's and rainy. Need some below 0 weather to push deer to feed.
definitely will be hunting till Jan 31 here. Heck, our rut hasnt even got here yet. It should get good around Christmas time. Been a tough season, so I hope I can end on a good note. Good Luck everyone.
Most likely. I always say I will, and rarely do. However, I have a weird drive still pushing me to get out there which is usually absent this time of year.
Late season is one of my favorite times to hunt and with our mild winters we don't really have the "hearding up" that other states deal with. It was 65 degrees here today. We are supposed to have a cold front at the end of the week to push temps down into the 30s and I will be out for that.
I agree, went out this morning and saw the first rubs and scrapes of the year in one of my spots near Auburn, AL. Found a large scrape that looks to be communal in the middle of a saddle of a ridge. I sprayed some tinks power scrape in it and plan on getting back to it on Sat bright and early. Still need a buck and would love to get one off public land before the new year.
Tagged out in Illinois for bucks. I'm leaving the does alone. Probably hit Michigan for some late season over Christmas.
Still got to fill my buck tag have until Jan 31. No ice yet so I'll be spending some time in the woods.
