I can say with great confidence that I have seen two non typicals. Both of course were in IL and one not to far from GregH's old hunting spot.
Southeastern WI. We initially found out the buck was in the area after one of it's sheds popped a local farmer's tractor tire. He scored that side of the rack and if I remember correctly it scored 93.
Nope... never have and probably never will. Unless I go to illinois where they around every other tree
Ah yes......Almost hard to keep from getting trampled by them when walking to your tree here in Illinois......At least that's what they tell me.
I've seen 2 huge bucks in 18 years of bowhunting. One got killed in gun season last year and taped out at 182"(i saw him 2 times in one day). The other i saw once in 2007 and he probably didn't make 180 but I guess I'll never know. A 200" deer is almost an unimaginable trophy in this part of Ohio with all the pressure, but it does happen every few years.
Only in photographs, although butting our property is a retired pheasant farm (900 acres) that is hunted one weekend a year, opening gun. He seems to land a 180-190 inch giant every couple yrs.
I've seen one that should have gross around 180. I've seen two that should have grossed in the 170's. I killed one of them so I know he did. The biggest bucks I know off in a 30 mile radius of me... one went 183... the other went 191. The 183 I saw. The other I just heard of. Both shot with rifle. Tim
I saw a giant non typical one time in an alfalfa field during the Summer about 5 years ago. It was 450 yards away and I was looking at it through binochs. I don't know if it was a 200 incher but I would not doubt it? It had everything...enormous mass, tall tines, wide, many points, and a huge body I kept quiet about the buck at the time but I never saw him again. I have since that time asked some neighbors if they had ever seen that buck and they all said no.
When I went to Illinois 3 years ago I saw a 200 inch typical. He never came more than 100 or so yards from me. Another guy in our group had also seen him at about 65 yards and he had shot a 194 inch buck the year before and he said that this deer was definitely bigger.
I havent seen one personally Steve but know a guy that killed one about 5 miles from my house! I have the news article still and ill have to dig it out! I believe it was in the 220's range but a gun kill!
nope...6-7 ranging 150-170(5 in the woods) class and 3 over 180(2 of em, in the woods hunting - 1 fishing could see the rack easy at 3/4 mile). Grandfather shot a 21 pt(measurable and 2 more to hang a ring on) that the head was stolen out of the back of the truck so no measuring and one old grainy pic and news clipping.
2, one in Kentucky and one in Kansas. I measured 2 for friends in Kansas last year that was in the 190's.
I don't know if I've personally ever seen a deer that was 150" or bigger. And that includes 10 years of spotlighting in PA. I don't know anyone personally (outside of these forums) that has seen one either. Biggest deer I know of was the buck my hunting partners dad killed in the Albany bowhunting zone @ 153", and the buck my wife cousin shot last rifle season that I posted pics of @ 143".
Biggest buck I've personally ever seen on the hoof anywhere has probably been in the 180's.... Had the chance on some out of state hunts to hunt on farms where I knew there were some potential 200" deer (neighbors trail cam pic or the land owners pics) - but even then, you couldn't tell if they would for sure tape out over the 200" mark...
Nice try Dan but come on you gotta do better then that. Back 13 years ago when I joined the P&Y club I didn't have an animal to enter at the time but Instead I thought I'd join and support a bow hunting organization that fights for our rights (yours too) to bow hunt. This club Isn't just about entering animals. It's to bad most think that. I bet you didn't know you could join this club with out having a book animal entered. Maybe you do know that but most do not know this.
I have seen 5 bucks while hunting between 175 and 185, plus a few while scouting in the same range, but I have never have been lucky enough to see a 200 incher. I know Dan too does that count.
