I bought a new pop up blind yesterday & put it up this morning. I sprayed it down with scent eliminator and was on my way. How long do you guys usually wait to hunt a new stand/blind? I am the only person who hunts there and the deer aren't skittish or spooky. I was gonna hunt out of it the next day but a buddy of mine said he'd wait at least a coulpe days?

I remember the first time I used a pop up blind. I packed it in with my gear and set it up right before I hunted. Tucked it inot the edge of a cut corn field and brushed it in. Finally got done and climbed in. I unzipped the front window and an eight pointer was standing there about 30 yards lol. I saw a bunch of deer that night too.

I've never understood the "give it time" thing. My buddy is like that. Anytime we hang a stand or move one he'll say something like well that won't be huntable until next Tuesday. Well what the hell lol? Or when we drag a deer out. "That part of the land is shot for 4 days"

I understand leaving your scent while moving a stand. But if the wind is good for it and you were scent free while doing it why not hunt it whenever you want. Plus I want to be there when the come figure out that something is different instead of them figuring it out when I'm not there.

I never had a problem hunting a stand as I hang it. Killed many deer like that. Although I have never used a blind I wouldn't hesitate to hunt it after setting it. I say go for it.

A couple of years ago I was dragging out a buck I shot, and this six pointer kept following me. I had to shoo it away several times.

Last year my dad shot a dandy right on the trail I had dragged my buck out on the previous day.

Caveat: In both cases it was peak rut.

Thanks guys, I ended up hunting it this morning and saw 6 does but no bucks. The does knew something was different but it didn't seem to spook them. All six walked within 15 yards of it.

I have the best luck hunting a stand or a blind the day I set it up. I've shot all three deer this year the day I set up. In fact I set up a pop up blind earlier today and I'm going to head out there to hunt in about 45 min. The blind is set up 20 yards downwind of a fresh scrape line I found today. Hopefully the buck will come out early enough to tend to his scrapes. I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm hunting out of a blind I set up about 45 mins ago edge of a corn field and timber line didn't even try to brush it in just have the back in thick cover and to my left is a bush that sticks out over the timber into the corn and I set my blind on the opposite side so that when they come with the wind I'm playing hide and go seek till they are 10yrds infront of me
