I have shot a buck every year I've hunted since 1999. I did take 3 years of a while back though. I may need to raise my standards a bit cause I haven't shot a real nice one yet.
2010. Passed plenty small/mediocre bucks, seem some nice ones just outta range and missed one last season. It's bowhunting and I love it!! The amount you learn year to year from on stand observations, scouting, and reading amazes me.
Only my second season of archery and my 4th season hunting at all. Got my first buck with a rifle last year, hoping I can do it with a bow this year.
I shot one last year. That was the second one. The previous year was the first buck I shot with a bow. I did shoot one when I was 18 (1988), but it was only 1.5 years old. So I don't think that really counts. I've got a good streak going. Hopefully this year will be the 3rd in a row.
Knock on wood!! I haven't been skunked since my first yesr of bowhunting in 2004. Not all champions but all were bucks.
2009 was my last archery buck. I need to break out of the funk, although I used up some of my luck with the gun last year
I have never shot a buck seeing I started last year. Hope to shoot one this year Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
I assumed the OP meant with a bow. I have not shot a buck with a bow since 2009. I quit bowhunting mid season 2010 year due to harvest and just a boredom with bowhunting in general. I passed up several bucks that year, I was hunting one specific deer, a 4+year old mid 150's 10 point mainframe with a double brow on his left side and double throat patches. The last day I hunted I got in a stand late because of work and disregarded the wind, my scent and about everything an idiot in a hurry can do wrong. The buck came up the expected trail instead of down it as per his pre-season schedule and busted me in the stand and the new neighbor shot him two days later.... Prior to that I had filled all my tags every year since 1998, when I couldn't take a trophy buck..I always had the option of taking cull bucks for the buck. Which I consider a 3 year old spike or fork horn or in some cases six's. I don't want them breeding as I assume them to have poor genetics and I was trying to manage with a focus on ten point genetics as a priority. 4 year old 8's were next and tens were off limits until 5+. The exception to the rule was any lessor than 4 year old 8's that had something unique like a drop tine or base junk or split tines and kickers. But anyway yeah last one taken with a bow 2009. I kept hunting with a rifle for meat and some managment and have continued filling my buck tags every year.
Don't worry Fitz you'll get your stud this year. I remember reading in Greg Millers book that if you are hunting big bucks in the Deep Woods you better get have a 5 year plan.
3 season ago was my last retrieved archery buck. I did shoot one last year I was unable to recover. Luckily I get rifle tags too or I'd be really hungry.
I shot 6 bucks from 08-11.. Not much in 12 and doubt I get out much this year either. Maybe this winter or next year tho!
Took my first and only buck with a bow this past season. It was approximately a 145" 10 point out of camp Ripley.
