Just curious, how long do they typically take? And what do they charge for a shoulder mount whitetail?

I would say my guy averages about 12 months on a shoulder mount. $500.

$500 My guy tans his own hides so he is able to have a quick turn around. He said many taxidermist send out the hides to be tanned elsewhere in bulk so they have nothing to work on until the hides come back

Last one cost $800 and took 14 months but that is in Canadian dollars. Probably closer to $550 in US dollars.

My taxidermist is a friend of mine and he takes advantage of that friendship by putting my mounts off until last. And no, I do not pay less than of his other customers to warrant being put off. Most guys with him get their deer back in 3 to 18 months.

His price for a shoulder mount is $465.

The taxi that has mounted a few deer for my uncle and dad charges $450 with a normal turnaround of 8-10 months.

The guy who just finished my mount doesn't do taxidermy full time so wait time is longer, but the quality of his work is excellent. It took him 18 months and cost $525 with half up front.

I have three different one's somewhat locally that I have used since the 90's. Fastest turnaround was 4 months @$600 w/half down. Longest was 7 months at $350 w/20% down. Spanning half a dozen deer and 20+ years, the earlier ones were in the $250 range and similar turnaround.

Geez. Depends on what he has for breakfast and what the weather in china is like. Lol. He's retired from it and does it as a hobby on the side. He does amazing work though and tells you up front that it'll be a minute. If he says 12 mo I plan on 18. Charges $450 for basic no plaque or extra goodies. Some fancier ones with nature accents run closer to $600
