I have 1 camera that is up and running 365. I usually get less than a year out of a chip. I go to read the chip and it says no image, won't work in a camera either. Granted I get a high volume of pics and the chip is read often but just curious what others see for life span on their chip?

I've only had 2 SDs go bad on me (*knock on wood*). Out of a couple dozen. Some I've been using for a good 7 years.

I've bought several at WM and most of them at Amazon, in three years I've not had one go bad. I have no idea what the deal is but something is whacked somewhere if yours go bad within a year. I have several that are 5+ years old. Mine get several thousand pics a week and are read/swapped (pretty much weekly).

Maybe you have an area of magnetism, high heat or high humidity that's effecting them?

I've never had a brand name SD card go bad on me. I run mostly San Disk in my trail cameras, but I have a few Transcend and PNY.

My SD cards have lasted me 6 years or more. I had one go bad about 5 years ago and I could not erase the images off of it. I have lost one or misplaced one, but other than that mine last. I have a couple that have over 60,000 pics on them and they are still going strong. I re-Format my SD cards every time I erase them.
