Two days. Believe it or not. I was eleven years old. Got the bow I had been asking for on my birthday which is aug 30th. Practiced and practiced for about two weeks give or take a few days. And on the first day a small basket rack 8walked 15 yards from me as I stood up against my favorite old dead tree. I passed be cause i had killed bigger deer than that befor with a rifle. When I got back to the truck later in the morning I told my dad what had happened and he tripped out lol. He said u did what!!! Son it's your first bow kill you should have taken that buck. And at 11 years old yes of course. So the next day standing in the same place her he came again. And I managed to get drawn and an arrow in him at only ten yards this time. He went maybe fifty yards and wadded up in some tall fescue. Won't ever forget that little chocolate horn basket rack eight

It took me 3 years to get my first one, but it was a nice little basket 8 point and I got him on my 16th birthday, definitely a hunt I'll never forget....cold November morning and he walked by at 7 yards, double lunged him and saw the steam come out as the arrow went through, he only made about 50 yards. That rack sits proudly on my wall at home.

I shot a 8 point my first year the first morning by doing what everyone said not to and put hot doe pee on a bucks rubs. Lol strange but true and when I got too my stand first morning he was bedded at that rub and was the exact buck I watched there. He stood up and gave me a 20 yard broadside shot and you know how it ended and I was hooked from then on. Never tried the rub thing again though lol.

Lady luck must have really liked me.. first day, first bow hunter ever, in the stand for maybe 1/2 hour. Had a spike buck walk right under me and I shot straight down; spined him. I was using a Fred Bear something.. maybe $200 bow new. Aluminum arrows that were way too heavy, in a climber stand that took me 20 minutes to get on a tree let alone start climbing which was another fiasco. I only made it up about 10' before the floor of the stand was angled way too steep to go any higher. Sitting in army camo as I was fresh out of the military and had no hunting cloths.. I had absolutely no clue what I was doing, but this guy walked right under me. I looked down between my knees and there he was. Never saw or heard him until he was under me.. and being a new hunter, my head and eyes were darting everywhere at every little noise. That was also the first time I ever field dressed a deer myself.. and i did a horrific job.. after I puked 2-3 times from the stench. Looking back, I have to absolutely crack up at how little I knew. It took me 1/2 the summer to get my bow sighted in. Finally get it and took it to have my peep re-served.. idiot at ****'s used a serated knife to cut the old serving and snapped my string. It took about all I had to keep my cool and go home to spend the other 1/2 of summer re-sighting in.

I'm 19 and have been bowhunting for 6 years and I'm still chasing my first deer. I arrowed a 140 inch 8 pointer last year but lost his blood, so the journey continues!

I was 16 when I started to bowhunt. I live out west so a lot of our hunting is spot and stalk. When I was 22 I got my first animal with a bow. It was a 4 point bull and I was so excited I didn't wait long enough and ended up pushing him in a deep hole. I was lucky the old bear razor broad head had stayed in him he left me a good blood trial. I had me and my brother and a good friend of mine help pack it out. Took 12 hours to pack him out. Learned a lot from that experience. Now that I am in my 50's I do a little more with tree stands at wallows. I let my boys do most the spot and stalk

I was 16 when I got mine and it was right before Thanksgiving. It was a button buck and I remember the shot was lethal but was absolutely horrible. It went through the neck and into the heart he ran 10 yards and was dead on a run. I was trying to hit behind the shoulder and as soon as my pin hit the spot I had a bad case of target panic. I missed 3 other deer before him. I started deer hunting with a bow when I was 11 or 12 when I started.

Hopefully not much longer. My first bow hunting season was spring turkey this year. First deer should be this fall. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

The jury is still out for me. I started bow hunting 2 years ago with a crossbow. Last year I sold it and bought a Hoyt compound bow. I was able to shoot a pig last year, and am hoping to get at least a few deer this season. I had opportunities last year, but just wasn't comfortable enough with the bow to shoot. I'm hoping to change that in a few months.

Hunted a couple times late in the 2012 season but really started hunting hard last year and killed my first 6 days into the season. Finished with 2 does and 1 buck down.

This is a pic of my first deer taken with a bow. It took me three years bow hunting to get him, but it was the first shot I took at a deer with my bow. The first two years I did not get close enough to get a shot off.
