I had to wait for my 3rd year with the bow before I finally got one.

My first trip out I arrowed a nice 8 point. I was 17 yoa and it was also my first deer. But I had worked real hard scouting and shooting. But still I was lucky.

been hunting three years and i still havent gotten one. First two years never even gotten a deer in range of my stand. this year i shot and hit a buck but unfortunately it was just a leg wound and it ran till the blood trail ran out and i couldnt find it. then a doe on the last day of the season came by, and as i drew my bow back and waited for a shot it took off and i shot and missed. (which im not to proud of because im more ethical than that, but the time i have been hunting frustrates me so i stupidly took the shot)

however this year feels promising because im scouting anddoing more offseason work this year and the other years i was a more casual bowhunter and now ive become more serious.

Opening morning, first day of my first year, first shot.

    Oct. 1st, 8am

I'm sitting in a stand that I picked out and hung all by myself (for the first time), I had 2 bucks come into the field at 7:30. They made their way to me, I let the first one pass, I wanted to shoot the bigger of the two. The bigger one stepped into my shooting lane at 20 yards broadside, I released, hit him too far back. I got down and went home after about an hour.

That afternoon I went back and looked til dark, nothing. Next day, nothing. Third day, found him!

I looked for him for about 12 hours total. He was about 115".

I just started bow hunting last year and I started around November. I had seen plenty of deer, but could only get a shot off at two. The first deer I shot at was a doe, and flung the arrow right over the back. The second was a nice doe that I shot but lost the blood trail. I'm looking to take that first deer this season

Only 4 days! But that being said I have been hunting since I was about 6 with my dad. Big game hunting "with my own gun" since I was 12 and killed my first big game animal last fall at the age of 19... and it was with a bow!
