6 weekends...On that Saturday. Found him on Sunday morning, thanks to the rifle hunter next door. It cost him his permission to hunt on that land though. I felt bad. The land owner was a BIG ******.
I started when I was twelve years old mid season after I finished hunters safety. I missed 4 or 5 deer that year. I shot a nub early the next fall. That was almost twenty years ago. WOW time fly's when your in a tree!
First hunt. I knew that a small patch of woods on the back corner of the farm was a travel corridor for doe. I went in for an afternoon hunt on opening day of archery season. I went in with my climber, and aside from nearly sliding down the tree, nearly losing the bottom section of climber and sweating up a storm- I shot a doe about 30mins after I came in.
My first deer with a bow, which was also my first buck, came the 2nd season I hunted. I thought I had hit a tree, but it was actually the tree behind him as the arrow went though both lungs. It was a little 4 pointer.
I started when I was 13 after giving it a year in the tree with dad. Shot a little buck early November that year
Still haven't, this is my 4th season. I hunt 99% public land (a military fort here in GA) and the deer get pretty darn spooky this time of year...my chances are sliding already for the year i can feel it in my bones!!! Arggghhhh
October 17, 1977.......my first season to bowhunt. Killed a small 8 pt. Though there were not nearly as many deer then, I had the advantage of hardly any hunting pressure and could hunt jjust about anywhere.
Got my first bow for my 13th birthday, didn't kill a deer with it until right before my 18th birthday.
for a bow kill it took me 4 seasons (1st was less than a week ago)!!! I think it was mostly on account of only hunting high pressure public land until this year....2nd year i didn't bow hunt much on account of a new job too..which didn't help.
As bad as I hate to admit it, it took me 12 years to take my first deer with a bow. It was a button buck. I started bowhunting when I was 14, so some of that can be explained by inexprence. I those 12 years I sure shot at and scared a bunch of them.
Same for me! Just about 12 years. I shot a nice buck last year and lost the blood trail, so I think he lived through it. But I have shot at several deer the past few seasons and missed over their backs alot. I've learned the adjustment this year
